Exactly what the Oilers needed in Henrique. plus player on the ducks, against other teams best players/defense pairs …and now will get easier match ups with teams having to gameplan for McD/draisaitl
Also helps with the teams lines being a key penalty killer, making for seemless line usage post penalty kill. Vs the makeshift lines they have post penalty kill after they load up with MCD/drai/Hyman …
Great depth moves! I like it! Price seems high, but these are the type of players you need to sustain a long playoff run
Great analysis honestly. I appreciate the shoutout to the analytics crowd mad about Carrick… like, the Ducks are BAD and I'm a big analytics guy so it's nice to hear your view of the deal from that angle as well =)
Wow, Oilers are going all in.
They might have moved the needled to be the Canadian team to win the Cup

Great analysis
The Leafs are turning you grey bud, it's time to jump ship LoL
If the leafs end up with codi cici i will fuckin cry.
BRAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAD!! I honestly would rather the leafs do nothing this deadline. Leave it to these players to prove they are for real. Win two rounds and make the conference final at least.
The Oilers expanded and beefed up their own analytics team over last summer. If they pursued Carrick you can be damn sure their scouts and number nerds know exactly the role they wanted him to fill
Carrick was retained at 50% by the ducks too! Not a huge amount of money, but he very bit counts right now
Thanks Steve. Love when you cover my beloved Oil.
Congrats on the new kiddo
They need a matt dumba imo….Lets Go Oilers
As an Oilers fan, I do not understand Ken Holland obsession with Toronto Maple Leafs players. Since 2021 we have basically added 5 of them. Starting with Tyson Berrie, who was good for the Oilers .Now Zach Lyman was a fantastic acquisition. No complaints there. Cody CC has been OK at times. Jack Campbell is basically a good relief playoff goaltender. And Connor Brown is a player that’s not the same player that he was. At least we got a player and Sam carrick that knows his role. And oh yeah, played for the leafs at one point in his career.
Good pick ups by the Oil for sure. Carrick is former Marlie enforcer.
GLG
I think losing Sergachev for the season isn't sneaky, sneaky. But they are weaponizing the cap space which is just good hockey management.
Oilers also acquired goalie Ty Taylor
Carrick was also 50% by ducks reported as well.
Both Henrique and Carrick are solid two-way forwards and Penalty killers too.
Adam is injury prone
Oilers can't be done. They have 2 giant holes on the right side (TOP6 F and TOP4 D) and they just gotta fill one of them.
Luke roasted him 😂😂 Love Gaz!!
Great
Henrique? Meh.
Rico is a perfect 2 way forward Oiler fans! He is a great personality, and a perfect A. You guys will love him, and hes a solid player. Win Uncle Rico a cup please!
Watched Sam Carrick while he was with Anaheim's farm team in San Diego, and saw how he TORCHED the Condors as the Captain of the Gulls. I'd LOVE it if he was paper transactioned here for the deadline, even though I know he won't. This kind of snarl, hard to play against, and just kinda mean… That's EXACTLY what the Oilers bottom 6 needed.
so tampa traded extra cap space for draft pick?
MACHINATIONS
Connor Brown's cap hit is league minimum for this season, what's the problem? Next year? Who cares about next year during this year's playoffs?
I don't care what the stats say, but both Henrique and Carrick are MASSIVE upgrades over 2/3 of the Oilers bottom 6, and it's not even close. Their JFresh stats might look bad, but it's only because they played with a brutal Ducks team. What more did you expect. Huge win for the Oilers
Really hope the Oilers can make it to the promise land. Not personally a fan, but it’s about time after all that suffering their base has had to endure.
I was hoping for a 2nd line right winger but I do love this deal !!! I think Henrique & Carrick will add rocket fuel to the Oilers attack !!!💪🤣
