  1. 2 days left till the deadline. Terrible brutal deal.
A 2nd rd pick and they pay him..
At least the leafs will have to face him if they can get out of the first round..

  2. Ottawa, after realizing what they have done: "This has got to be the worst trade deal, in the history of trade deals, maybe ever."

  3. Horrible return for him in general but retaining salary as well……jeez Ottawa makes some dumb moves sometimes.

  4. Might as well have just kept him for that return.. the only way this makes sense is if they have immediate plans for that freed up cap space

  5. I could see Panthers doing Rodrigues up on top line, Verhaeghe down to line 2, and Tarasenko in there on line 3, at least at first. But we shall see.

  6. Is it the trade deadline today or something? Sean Walker Tarasanko and Henrique all dealt. Also what the hell are the sens doing? This might be one of the worst deals if Tarasanko plays well for Florida. 😊

  7. Ben Chariot at the same cap hit with the salary got an unproteced 1st, prospect and 5th. And Ben Chariot is MUCH worse the Tarasanko. Fleeced.

  8. I think we all understand all the aspects that were against the Sens on this one. But STILL, it's ridiculous. It's either shitty returns, OR retention, not both like this ; WOW!
I'm somewhat of a tertiary/distant Panthers fan, so I should be cool with this, but no man. Why is it that the Sens are always so mismanaged? No wonder all the rebuild attempts keep failing.
Also, unpopular teams in Canada that like Ottawa are subject of NTC more often than not, you just have less room for mismanagement than other franchises likes e.g. NYC which can get all the free agents they wants, etc.

I think that's why I respect the brand new management for the Habs since the cup run; they really are building toward something that takes a lot of patience and good asset management. They had an historic level of injuries last year, and still managed to get 2 first round picks for Monahan (which still was a bargain for the Jets Imho, I think that the fans realize how important such a player is. But waiting for a better offer would have meant risking an injury, so good for both team no doubt).
MTL also didn't want to pay anything for PLD and were proven right. They have a PPG player in Suzuki that is paid a lot less than PLD. Basically, they are doing everything a full on rebuilding team should do, and I think that even without ANY superstars falling into their lap like EDM TOR and CHI, the foundation will be good for many years of serious playoffs starting in 2-3 years. It's the first real rebuild in 120 years of existing, so yeah, they can take their time.
Jet's management should also be applauded. The fact that they are in contention and have been for years is crazy. They really did the best they could in situation where they were in a disadvantage. WPG is probably the least popular destination for players, so they really are doing the most mileage with what they have.

OTT should take notes from Jet's management… And with how they gave Tarasenko for nothing AND accepted retention, and ALL the other BS that keep going on over there, it's clear that management isn't up to par with the challenges of a small market team that's been worsening their play retention issues.
I hope they fully commit to a rebuild, but not before cleaning house and finding a new management team with, get this, AN ACTUAL PLAN FOR THE FUTURE of the team (as opposed to seemingly winging it every year).

  9. Pretty pathetic return given the player and the fact that they had to retain. Feels like they took the first offer and didn't even shop him around to his potential teams. I know he's not the player he used to be, but cmon….not even a protected conditional first? No young prospect? A third was the best they could do….. Id be willing to bet if other teams knew it wouldn't have taken a first, wed have at least gotten a second from someone…. Very easy to see why were constantly bad and cant get out of rebuilds. Other teams rebuilt, competed and rebuild again in the time we've taken to get to this point. Really bad start to this ownership group and management. If this is whats to come, we wont be back in the playoffs for another decade…..if that. City deserves some good hockey and something to get behind.

  10. If this all it took, i hope yzerman atleast called about tarasenko. Detroit could of used him to round out their top 6 for a decent playoff push
