The wing's are being exposed against top teams where they just. Can't compete

How this is similar to the sens games last year: against the teams you want to be competitive with,you are not. Last year was a "chasing wildcard" teams this year is "competitive " teams and wings do fall short against the types of teams they will face in post season. 1 more year selling, unfortunately
Hopefully they can squeeze in a good practice before the back end of the road trip. They need to tighten things up while Larkin is out… as for the deadline I'm hoping Yzerman will trade the Holl contract and promote Edvinsson on the Defensive end. If he makes a big move I feel it will be a top six winger like Pavel Buchnevich. Yzerman already has a history trading with the Blues and they can probably find a mutual deal.

Even if Larkin were healthy this wings team loses that game. We don’t have the top end talent. Colorado is deep at top and bottom.
I just think Yzerman won't do anything drastic at the deadline. Hold course. We need to temper our expectations as fans. Wings are still 2-3 years from matching top teams consistently.
I was absolutely disgusted watching them play. Zero effort. Puck in our zone 90% of the game, neutral zone turnovers, terrible display of defense, rarely got any scoring chances after our first 2 goals,0 forechecking, absolutely no sustained pressure in offensive zone. We had 26 shots on goal to colorados 54. I was embarrassed to be red wings fan last night.😢 I know colorado is good but jesus u have lost last 2 games and that's what we get? Larkin is out and these guys are gonna have to play better then that. 😢 it seems like no one can handle the puck all of a sudden. They make these long stretch passes across ice and give the puck up constantly!! Seider made a dumb move by the net allowing a goal. (He's young, I'll chalk that up to a teachable moment, hopefully he learned not to do that again!) Man that was a very frustrating game. There was 0 urgency even when they were down by 1 and 2 goals. Just 0. No one looks like they even care out there. They just cruise out there. No one wants it bad enough. They get out hussled and outworked way to much.
How were we being outsped by their entire roster?! not just Nate. Letting so many odd man rushes and just losing races with them charging straight at our net. Easily Seiders worst game of his career. Bad penalties. No puck possession either. Plain awful.
With what it took for Vegas to get Hanafin, I can’t imagine why Steve wouldn’t be willing to pay that, and I really wish he would have. Would really help our D-core. I hope it was more that Hanafin wouldn’t sign here or wanted to be in Vegas more, rather than Steve not wanting to pay.
At this point I’m just really hoping Steve doesn’t see these past 3 games, and the Larkin injury and decides to sell
Friday game is a MUST win.
The Wings are losing to better teams, with the exception of the Islanders who were desperate for a win. The next game is against Vegas then the next six games are quite winnable. That's were the season is going to be decided. Beat the teams we're supposed to beat and will be in the playoffs. April isn't as bad.
Yzerman is doing the best he can considering he hasn't neccessrily had the best lottery luck which have been the case for the wings for years. When they did/do have an opportunity to pick high they're often snubbed. Regardless, Yzerman still have enough talent on this team to push for a wildcard spot as they have shown earlier so that's no excuse for the players. Larkin is out, and the guys has to find a way to pull it together and win. Looks like they had no effort. No urgency.. This was an opportunity for players to step up without Larks. I wonder what a Dan Campbell talk to the Red Wings would do?
The way we are set-up as a team is to keep things close and prevent high danger scoring chances, however when it goes wrong with that system, it can go violently wrong. Thinking of the Oilers game just a few weeks ago. We may well make the playoffs, but we are still a long way away from challenging for a cup. Our hockey IQ, seems to be getting worse with all the retaliatory penalties we've taken in the last 2 games. You'd hope they would learn, but maybe that is their ceiling. Still. This is a positive season and we have taken a step forward compared to our recent past.
Seider looked absolutely horrible. I would be embarrassed if I were him. This game really pissed me off. How can you have a team this close to a playoff position and play like dog shit?
We have beefed on defensive prospects. Two are ready, Johansson and Edvinsson, and there is no room. If a d-man is not moved out at the deadline, and they stand pat, this deadline is a failure. Maata, Petry, Holl are all replacement level players. Can't tell me the two youngings can be worse than what these guys are. (and spare me the GR playoff push). Know what's even better experience for a young player? A NHL playoff push
Can't beat good teams. Larkin in wouldn't have changed the result. A 2C on most teams. If Seider's a superstar the team is in trouble. No top 3 difference makers really shows. Also the 6 game win streak was mostly crap teams
Last night was the first game of the season where I stopped watching after the second period and just went to bed. I don't miss a minute of wings hockey but that was hard to justify staying up so late for
The draft lottery has not benefitted the redwings. I believe the last time they picked first overall, was Dale McCourt. The Yzerplan mlght work if there was no lottery. Let’s face reality, we are not ready for prime time. Very sad to see them play this way. They are not a cup contender.

If the wings don’t beat Phoenix, then the wings will not make the playoffs. From what they have shown the last 3 games, their March record will match what they did in December.

My thought is yes, Colorado is a good team, but if we look like that and are unable to win because one player is out, we don’t deserve to be a playoff team

The problem is and has always been defense. And I don’t mean d-men specifically. I mean as a team. Clog shit up, don’t let them out of their own zone cleanly. But they let teams do whatever they want for some reason. Where’s the urgency? Where’s the passion? Looked like a bunch of house guys last night.

The wings D from 3 to 6 is below average at best. I would list them as non playoff poor. I cant believe you two were extolling Chariot/Petry as "solid" and not an area of concern leading to the trade deadline. I have been mildly disappointed in Seider this year. He does not seem to be growing and is playing more hesitantly than in his rookie season. Very disappointed that Stevie did not make a move for a D at this deadline…

Did anyone honestly expect a different result? With Larkin out, you're missing one of the most important players on the roster. The playoffs? Yes. it's going to be close. As I said at the start of the season, all I wanted was to see improvement. Not having to sell at the trade deadline would be that improvement.
Is seider really as good as this town makes him sound? I don’t see him control a game like other top 10-15 Dmen. Maybe I’m crazy. I think he’s very good with more upside, but he isn’t elite as some say he is.
