New York Rangers forward Matt Rempe has drawn a lot of attention for fighting four times in his first eight NHL games. But does he add any real value? PHNX Sports Steve Peters says no. While there is still value to fighters who can also play the NHL’s increasing up-tempo game, Rempe has no place on an NHL roster, or on NHL ice. All he does is take the NHL back to a dark era it was trying to escape.

People will show up to see Rempe . Unlock the Coyotes
So would you consider O’brien a goon?
Let me help you out as a Rangers fan. Rempe and Edstrom are with the team now because they wanted to see what they had going into the playoffs after waiving Pitlick and Bonino before the deadline, and Rempe is doing exactly what is asked of him. He has brought energy and physicality to a team that needed some, and recently has only fought after looking to the bench. He actually turned down the Reaves fight a few shifts before it eventually happened. Their line, in limited ice time, has been better since their call-ups. We hear so many kids say that they would do anything to play in the NHL, it’s refreshing to see someone actually back that up. Leave him alone, worry about where your team is going to play
I love it Petey, guys need to focus on solid hockey first, then focus on protecting teammates. Not fighting for fighting sake.
