No idea why he fell off a complete cliff but if he can somehow be a 40 pt player again I like it
Not sure I get this move, but as is tradition here is a bottom 6 winger we don’t need.
Holy crap we’re actually buying this year.
I like it, Trotz had this guy when he was coaching on the island [and he made Nassau explode one final time while he was there](https://youtu.be/pj3ftmy0Clc?si=pR61HSuxoIHDQpaM)
E: A 5th rounder this year going back up 24 & 57 to Chicago. This is fine
Hawks fan here. He is not very good
Why
I would guess Trenin is out and wasn’t interested to re-sign in NSH for a good price, maybe Trotz thinks he can sign Beauvillier
Edit: nevermind
“I can find the third- and fourth-line guys all day long.”
– Barry Trotz
– Michael Scott
He’s a highly skilled player worth taking a shot on and a 5th is kinda whatever, but we have so many damn forwards already I wonder if they move yak and just replace him with Beauvillier
Trotz liked his game on the Island and it cost us nothing to get him. Nice!
Are we sure Poile is really retired?
What did we give up?
It moves Jano to Milwaukee
Fans of his last 2 teams have very little positive to say about him. Seems the last time he found success was under Trotz as coach in NYI.
Will reserve judgement on moves until after deadline. Maybe they figure he can thrive under Brunette.
Fuck it, I’m down. Trotz knows the dude. Hope it works out. FTH, etc.
I think this is a good pickup. Looking at his shooting percentage each season its not a stretch he is a bit better than his numbers show and has been snake bit to a degree (though his good years he was decidedly fortunate at the same time). Im sure getting traded to and playing for Chicago didnt help his game and I’m not willing to write him off over this last season. He was an 18 goal 40 point player the year he was traded from NYI to VAN, last season. That makes him a better producer than 2/3 of the Predators roster. And it only cost us a 5th in a year we have a lot of picks
Edit: also he turns 27 in June, so hes not as old as his stat page suggests by looking at the long list of seasons/teams, he started in the NHL at 19 I believe
Edit 2: Bonus stat, he is only a -2 on a team where 8/11 of the top scorers (he is #8 with only 45 games) are around -20 to -40
In Trotz We Trust.
Youngish, Trotz knows him., could be worse… BUT I now expect to see Trenin traded to make obvious room in the bottom 6.
I hope Trotz does know him. For his salary, he is not very productive.
What kind of player is he? Reading everything posted here basically tells me we got a 3/4 liner with potential upside? What Nashville player would he be similar to?
It was a 5th round pick, not a bad move at all
