  1. Gurianov is the slightly older (Not younger, my bad), better player here. Seems like a clear win.

Glad we did this instead of trading a pick for an extra forward.

Well if he shows something, maybe you can resign him for cheap

I don’t know much, but some friends have told me Gurianov hasn’t looked great? Who knows there. I’m just stoked for Wade to have another chance. Dude was unreal to watch last year. So much heart.

  4. Non-NHLer for Non-NHLer.

Guryanov showed flashes earlier in his career, but that door is close to closed. GL Allison

Aww, Guri! He was on the Stars for a while. He scored the OT goal that got us to the Stanley Cup finals in 2020. Unfortunately, if I recall correctly, he didn’t really mesh with the style of play we had under Rick Bowness and his production suffered. He has some moments of brilliance and I think he could really thrive in the right environment. Many Stars fans still have a soft spot for him.

So if You’re looking objectively at this Philly is getting the much more skilled, faster and talented player, The problem is he’s always struggled to put it all together and he’s 26/27.

Ultimately, this is an AHL for AHL move, but in the off chance that something clicks for Gurianov, The Flyers have a shot at the better player.

  7. Wasn’t he pretty good for Dallas during one or two of their playoff runs?

I love this deal. Wade had no real shot at this team because of injuries and Gurianov showed flashes but fell apart, and we have the perfect coach to take on a reclamation project. Could be nothing, could be a solid contributor for a while, either way, a victimless trade.

This could be a sneaky good pick up, specifically if he skates a good amount of time with Poehling. Gurianov has had pretty good defensive metrics his last couple seasons in Dallas and in limited time in Nashville, where he was used in a more defensive role. Both Gurianov and Poehling have tons of speed and can play the way Torts likes. Poehling is having the best season of his career, scoring close to a 30 point pace, Gurianov has scored at a 30 point pace before. If that’s your 4th line with Hathaway, that depth could be insane for the flyers going forward. At the very least it’s good to have somebody with wheels for when we play the Hurricanes.

I always liked Wade Allison as a person and hoped his game could had recovered to his pre-injury trajectory. But it was pretty clear he didn’t have much of a future in the org. This is basically a no risk pick up for the Flyers.

Always like Gurianov. Insane speed, literally crazy straight line speed. Absolute cannon of a shot. He just never put enough of the rest of the game together to be able to show those two things enough.

Nothing-burger move, for both sides, don’t have hope for either player tbh and I’m overly hopeful

Possible reclamation project? He showed flashes of brilliance on the Preds this year

Oh Nashville, the dumping ground of washed up Flyers players

  13. I don’t know enough about Gurianov to decide how I feel about this one yet, but I’m going to choose to beleive in our management and assumed we got the better player out of it at least for the short term.
