All it takes is one phone call to change things, but the sense I’m getting is Buchnevich will remain with the Blues.

Makes sense, if the market isn’t there, we don’t have to trade him. We can wait until the offseason or next deadline and get just as much.

I hope insider JR is wrong. So many teams bunched around us point wise. No need to be mediocre and draft outside the top 10.

  3. What a nothing comment lol. JR is such a click grifter now

  4. The mood of this sub is so dramatically different depending on if the blues have won their most recent game.

The contract is NOT expiring this off-season. There is zero reason to trade him unless you get a return you just can’t refuse.

    Doesn’t Guentzel finish this?

Besides, it would be good to have Buch next year rather than Buch-light from the FA market at 4 million per

Unless they plan on re-signing him after next season I don’t understand keeping him. But he’ll also be 30 by that time. Would rather maximize his value right now IMO

I said this was the likely reality. We don’t have any rentals worth a damn after extending Sunny. Teams trade for rentals at the deadline. Buch isn’t a rental. The blues will have to wait until the offseason to make moves. Furthermore Buch is the type of guy you try to extend if he’s willing to do so. He’s the type of leader and vet for the young prospects. We need to focus on dumping the dead weight contracts first and foremost. Trading Buch does nothing for this team other than puts us further behind. There would be no room for the return you got back. And that’s what people need to grasp the reality of. Guys like Krug, Faulk, and Leddy have to go first. We can then look to potentially move guys like Saad, Hayes, and Schenn as well. None are horrible or need to be whipping boys. They just simply don’t fit the direction this team needs to go

  8. The fact they didn’t sit him last night told me he’s probably not on the move. I’m OK with that, but god damnit move one of these defensemen PLEASE

  9. Can we at least ship off Kapanen and Scandella? I hate this team makeup and hope we do something

    Well that sucks but okay.

But this offseason, they need to take a step back and figure out what they want to do. We have been stuck in mediocrity for a couple of seasons now with no cap space. Even if you make the playoffs, if you’re bounced in the first round constantly, it gets harder to care.

I think Kyrou has been somewhat disappointing and consistently the Blues are getting outshot every game. That requires Binny or Hofer to bail us out to have a chance. They can’t do that every game.

JR would be all over promoting this if the rumor was Kyrou – his favorite whipping boy.

  13. Made sense to fish for offers. Blues needed defensive prospects but if no one was offering don’t just trade him to trade him. Keep him and trade him next year at the deadline if things are still bleak.

Once I see or hear JR doing the writing or commentary, I just move on at this point. Just exhausting at this point.

  15. Dragondrew99

Fine by me, means there were no good offers.

Now that I think about it, I see why it is a weird market for buchie. From a blues fan’s perspective, I see how he SHOULD be much more valuable than your usual pending free agent rental.

But from other teams’ perspective, they’re maybe only shopping for a pending free agent rental. In other words, they’re just worried about this season. Who knows if they’ll be contending next year. Sure, it be nice to have a season of buch at a good price, but then they will be in the position of signing him to a huge contract, selling him at the deadline, or letting him walk.

I’m sure gm’s hate giving up assets for rentals. I think it’s easier for them and the fans to stomach paying “normal” rental prices, instead of the inflated price of buch’s somewhat unique situation.

I’d take a a top first or top D; which isn’t too likely. Also, I really want Brady Tkachuk leading the boys. Anyone know when/if this COULD happen?

Love having Buch. Now he doesn’t need the idea of being moved hanging over his head and the boys can play loose.
