hot take: i don’t think Vegas is cicrumventing the cap, I think Stone has been injured for most of the last 2-3 years including playoff runs

  2. LegendaryCanuck

Doesn’t help that San Jose is also incredibly stupid

  3. afterbirth_slime

Vegas clearly isn’t circumventing the cap though. Stone had a lacerated spleen ffs.

Honestly, I can’t even be mad at them. They saw a loophole the league refuses to close and decided fuck it, we’re going to exploit it for as long as we can and try to win a few cups off of it.

  5. MouthNoizes

Dry your eyes, Princess. They’re playing by the rules.

Fuck Vegas & Fuck Messier while we’re at it.

Said it before and I’ll say it again…”FUCK BETTMAN!”

Fuck teams doing this. If it was Vancouver, in the next CBA when they close the loophole they’d retroactively penalize Vancouver for doing it just like with Luongo.

More like when any Canadian does. Vegas is his baby for sure. Could you imagine what he’d do if say the Jets had to play in a 4500 half empty seat arena.

I mean we should be mad at the league for not changing these rules, Stone is hurt there’s no denying it these guys on LTIR aren’t just hanging out on the beach waiting for playoffs. There is such a simple solution for all this, the roster you ice in the playoffs must be cap complacent.

However it is incredibly frustrating that Vegas could have close to what seems like $100,000,000 in cap hit on opening night of the playoffs

I mean Vancouver’s 2011 playoff roster was over the cap, if the cap counted in the playoffs.

The reason the cap doesn’t count in the playoffs is because players do not receive any salary during the playoffs, they’re playing for prize money.

  12. You mean Bettman when the Canucks sign a perfectly legal contract that was approved by the league, only to apply a retroactive penalty years later despite the Canucks never actually winning a championship?
