Predators GM Barry Trotz Recaps Nashville’s Moves at the 2024 NHL Trade Deadline | Nashville Predators

Helpful to see everything in one place, sorry if this has already been posted!

TLDR: I’m not going to question Barry and Bruno and the team has been clear that they want to play to win (tickets to U2).

I’m pumped about the Beau and Zuck rental.

Trotz is definitely taking a familiar(and successful) path here he has done with other teams. You can build a highly competitive team spreading the responsibility just like you can with 2 100 point players on a team.

Still not a major fan of the McCarron and Jankowski contracts but Bruno has said that Glass and McCarron are secondary team leaders so I can get behind it. Jankowski is a solid call up if needed and has played well on the 2nd line, but that spot in sure is going to be Kemell soon enough. Tomasino figuring it out sooner rather than later would be very welcomed.

Other note- Avs fans seem excited for Trenin, which makes me super happy. Glad he is going to have a chance at a cup win. He is a nice compliment to their stacked skill roster.

I don’t think rentals usually make much of a difference and work out for teams in the playoffs, so I am not too worried about a team like the Avs that made a lot of splashy additions at the deadline. I think what does work out is a goalie getting hot and the whole team playing as a unit with disciplined defense and multiple effective offensive lines. If our top line and 4th line keep playing at a top of the league level with the chemistry they have been showing lately, if Saros is in the zone, and if these deadline moves get the 2nd or 3rd line going as well, then we have as much of a chance as anyone. There are only 2-4 wins separating us and the best teams in the league, and I think the lack of loser points actually makes the team look a little less competitive than it actually is.

I appreciate how long Bruno has kept the same lines together and how consistent he’s been with them. Unlike Hynes who would put the lines in a blender every few games right when they were starting to gel. That consistency looks like it may be paying dividends with the improvement in the team’s ability to hold their lines and blocking passing or shooting lanes on defense, and the team’s chemistry and beautiful passes on offense. Some of these recent goals during the point streak have been pretty because of the passing and awareness the players show of where everyone is on the ice.
