The Minnesota Wild came up on the wrong end of a 2-1 overtime loss to the Colorado Avalanche in Colorado on the second night of a back to back. The Wild fell to 30-27-7 with the loss. The Avalanche took a 1-0 lead in the first period on a goal from Arturri Lehkonen. Brock Faber scored his 6th goal of the season to tie the score at 1-1, but Valeri Nichushkin scored in his return to the Avs lineup to end the game after Kirill Kaprizov was called for a hooking penalty in overtime. Filip Gustavsson was stellar in the losing effort, stopping 38 of 40 shots. The Avs thought they had the go ahead goal late in regulation, but the Wild successfully challenged for offsides and the goal was waived off. The Wild will host the Predators on Sunday for their next game.

Idk what this team’s problem is with having a man advantage. But whoever keeps telling them “stand near the boards and don’t move it off the boards until you find a low chance centering pass” needs to be fired.
I thought they figured it out when they had Zuch and Kap behind the red line going back and forth for openings. It was a unique look with two guys who have good chemistry. And it worked! And then they immediately went away from it.

BG seems to recognize the broader accountabilities of his position and that it demands he will often need to take action that might not be popular with the players, particularly veteran players. I think he has real difficulties carrying those actions out as evidenced by the NM/NT clauses, falling in love with "his" guys, not pushing the coach to consider removing guys from the lineup, and except for Faber making it tough for younger players to gain a foothold. I don't see the difference between what that does to culture and what we had when Parise and Suter were here.
I only watched a period and a half last night. Glad to hear Rossi played better.
