NHL Highlights | Oilers vs. Sabres – March 9, 2024

Boo Tage Thompson who did not play in their loss to Nashville Thursday back in the lineup he scored 47 goals a year ago dyle breaks free over to the cloud shoots just wide dry cdle reunited with McLoud and Warren fogal today that was key during evon’s 16 game winning streak

And they almost converted right there another chance it’s drle this time to nurse defensively with viy de AR Fogle Center ditching one timer and McLoud will score set up by dry settle and Fogle and you knew it was going to happen Edmonton right out of the gates

But he got a piece of that one on the Fly and then another beautiful pass by drol in the reverse backand and Lucan doesn’t get a hold of this one as he banks it off of what McLoud does just great movement around the offensive zone that’s just such a

Nice pass by a dry SLE is that their way of saying to Chris dblock don’t ever break us up again what an explosion for Evon in short Louie it’s been an off year for Buffalo everything that went right offensively last year hasn’t this year Skinner makes

A save off a blast coming hard down the wing for Victor Olson another guy who’s seen his totals decline rapidly a shot blocked against Rusk and the rebound pinbal off a Skinner and cleared by Vinnie de AR till May Darnell ner first to Ryan nen Hopkins kick back to McDavid

Moves it de AR now a shot for nurse save a year ago Louis that’s in the back of the net no question yeah that’s 47 goal scorer last year and 47 assists the cloud to F shot low glove and that’s speared by Luc trying to go cross ice

And a good read by Owen power as Hackman was the intended target now he’s able to Fork it over new Hopkins to the net back here sa rebound off the pipe big and power’s going to head to the Penalty Box here nice passing by Edmonson could play off the wall to get

It to McDavid Den n dein Bard Beering up top new janov tricle 15 Power Play Goals trying to B it off the right shoulder of LC at it it’s been a struggle for him all year just three goals PKA back to KBS a one- time Western Hockey League

Player of the Year PKA shot by him dropped off a cliff this year has been much better late 31% over its last 10 but here a turnover short-handed Breakaway Fogle M back to Fogle and he scores a beauty two on0 shorthanded converted by Warren Fogle two nothing Emon on fogle’s career high

14th good speed here by McLoud and then Fogle with a good little separation there puts this puck area and then the little po check by McLoud and the give go for a wide open n that’s his 15th goal of the season a new career high for

Warren Fogle and you just kind of had a feeling these two guys were just about to break out the trade deadlines gone everybody’s settled in the line combinations changed Up by Chris noblock and it is really paid off with an even strength goal and now Dylan cousins Dalene cousins fires and that was

Redirected into the corner Dalene firing shot save rebound top can’t find it neither could it and finally does scoring for one knee through Skinner and Buffalo’s able to cancel out the shorty with a power play goal that’s Thompson’s 19 the first shot again we’ve seen a couple of these in the power play

There’s one that gets deflected into the corner and a good job by tuck in front he’s a big body gets in the eyes the goenda surprises Skinner again a riser from Byrum that gets up into the shoulder bounces in front now this Puck up for grabs one slash in it and it

Actually knocks off the Stick of Ryan Hopkins right back to Tage Thompson just a little bit of a lucky bounce but on his knee puts that in the net I mean that this Buffalo team can skate they can pass they can shoot and there was too many times outnumbered against Evon

On Stewart Skinner and a couple guys that got in all alone and two guys in particular Tage Thompson and Alex to and then coughed it up Cory Perry up the center for Evander Kan poked off a stick perel followed up to his backand stopped by Lu shorthanded Dylan cousins able to

Come up with a puck Bard back defensively cousins makes a move back to save made and Thompson can really fire it oh here’s Brown a steal a shot and that was denied by Lucan to Sam Carrick bang one off LC its pads Thompson off

The bar he dented it and then a good for check by Connor Brown sharp angle shot handled on the short side leading by a count of two to one Ryan McLoud and Warren Fogle each with a goal and an assist today here’s Thompson already is

Hit a post tried to move to the middle backhanded off the pan of Skinner by gson when we promised the Nature Boy and he and we failed to deliver Jean tried to do his best off the draw quick save made by Luc and on Warren Fog by olon

The Winger to be in the Knicks though and come back you’re going to see him right here kind of dig in and eventually that puck comes right out three officials will operate for this third and and presumably final period as the oers are to close it

Out he’ll get you he’ll get you here’s KBS little give and go now a shot and another post Tu can’t believe it one and still pushing this little turnover here there’s the shot by tuck off the tuck up the right hand side NE stolen from yaru McDavid in shoots off the side

Of the dead L trying to pin it there and then little pickpocket right here in a bubble Pucket McDavid is off for the races it right there the good job by Tu to force him to the forehead gaining speed poke checked away that Long Reach of D AR but now jumping

Up is Bryson with the [Applause] back we’re Tied changes angle on route to the net but it’s a nice entry by cousins who who’s really carried the puck a lot in this game and has found some sees and for Bryson he just kind of takes the ice and then throws it to the net that look

Didn’t look like it moved at all but I thought that it kind of deflected right before they got to steuart Skinner we’ll take a look at it this way I don’t know it just kind of throws that little knuckler backand towards it on the Fly by screen and it just goes off the

Shoulder Alex one timer that was partially healed by Dalene take it away from MCD beautiful pass sa Skinner brilliant stop on Tage Thompson off a terrific look from to if you’re Buffalo but Thompson stoned best save of the game for Skinner this is terrific Geto

Cuts the angle down and just he does up the right hand side to Jo to now some late hostility developing between Byrum and McLoud but will settle this one three on three with a game tied at two nurse an OT winner as well so Buffalo 4- four Edmonton 6-2 and D wins

Another face off at 10 seconds big hit Hyman taken away from Nur for the Victory and then t h off his stick Owen power’s got to hurry he’s got to shoot he does it scores with two seconds left in Overtime and there it is right there you can see as bym is entering the Zone this Puck hasn’t fully crossed cousins with 10 seconds to go tried to center a second time and had it broken up both times McDavid up the boards cousin to the win s Skinner point blank to get the

Oilers into his shootout Thompson attacking in on Skinner scores post and in around with this one I mean this was bar in he hit a couple posts I think in this game one for sure and this time he catches the inside of the post quick backand to

Forehand no mistake there for his career 48% 15 of 31 he’ll drag to the middle and he’ll wait out but Lucan makes the sa Patience by Lucan in here really hard to do cuz he can go back to the back hand any time that little fake gets him

To go down but nice push off with the left pad to get over with a two for three in his shootout career in on Skinner very slow shoots and was stopped again patient save here by steuart Skinner Stands Strong Stands Tall right to the last second before

That shot not a whole lot to shoot at d s a l for one this year n for 29 in his career to tie it up dyle STS poting in that’s a complete opposite right-handed shot Thompson left-handed shot dyle does exactly the same move and it

Works Alex he’s had all kinds of looks this afternoon has not converted seven for 20 in shootouts tough to give the Sabers the lead [Applause] he Hopkins to save the game yeah nice move here by Tak had a couple roll off the backhand on him in the game but this

Time he brings it back to the forehead Hopkins two for two this season 37% for his career to keep the shootout going new J nokins denied lukan and the Sabers win again 32 this time we believe it Counts

Owen Power had the late OT-winner called back for offside although Alex Tuch finished it off shortly after, potting the shootout winner as the Buffalo Sabres rallied from an early two-goal deficit to defeat the Edmonton Oilers 3-2 in a thriller.

  1. Shocking… I am so proud of this team. Adversity once again, and even with top stars traded away the Sabres found a way to win. LUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUK was awesome after those two quick goals allowed, solid team effort. I love these guys! Let's Go Buffalo!! ⚔⚔⚔⚔⚔

  2. UPL Is the goalie of present & future, Tuch needs to do more, Skinner a floater, Benson should be in juniors, Krebs better step up, time is ticking.

  3. Here for the shootout after shutting the game off after I thought my Sabres won in OT. The Sabres would be a bottom 3 team if it wasn’t for UPL. He’s been fantastic.

  4. Oilers face another intense game and walk away losers again. Their team D and tending are nowhere near ready for a cup run.

  5. I am fan of Canadian🇨🇦 cities starting with vowel letters – Edmonton Oilers and Ottawa Senators but at end of this season- love to see the Canadian🇨🇦 vowel letter cities defeat their final bosses – Boston Bruins and Colorado Avalanche to close the season and have a happy😃 ending for 2023/2024.

  6. The Sabres just experienced what Pacific Division teams are all acutely aware – officiating decisions that tends to benefit the Oilers revealing the NHL's desire for the Oilers to do well.

  7. The scoreboard guy went for the: "If I let the score 3-2 for as long as possible, maybe they will revert their decision".

  8. So, does Buffalo GM Kevyn Adams sign U.P.L. to a contract extension sooner or later? The Sabres were the NHL"s youngest team, and they got even younger after the trade deadline, and have even more cap-space after the trades.

  9. Oh way to give up the puck skinner, you should know better than to bring that puck so high, and the fact you can never control the puck

  10. Just don't see the Oilers as a Stanley Cup contender , they just don't have what it takes … Things are starting to tighten up and this is when the Oilers choke!
