It is going to be a long next few years. Here is how I see our roster needs:

Goalies: if Markstrom is gone, a lot will depend on Vladar and Wolf. While Wolf has potential to be a number 1 one day, goalies are so hit and miss. We may or may not have a good goalie for the future.

Defense: we have two #2 defenders. We have a good #4/5. Pachal is a decent #6. All the rest of our defenders are #7s to 9s on most teams. There are a lot of question marks about this position. We have a lot of quantity but not quality.

Offense: we have many decent to good wingers. With the hopes that Zary or Sharongovich can become first line wingers. Obviously Sharo is playing first line but on a good team he’s probably 2nd line. Center position we have to start drafting these, all of our centers are aging and we don’t have anyone coming up to fill these spots.

Outlook: Conroy has done a decent job with the start of a rebuild. I know some people say retool, but there is nothing to retool around. You aren’t going to build a cup contender around some #2 defenders and second line forwards. We need to hit on a bunch of draft picks. The team will regress significantly next year with the loss of Hanifin, Tanev, Lindholm, and likely vezina level Markstrom in the offseason. I see us as a bottom 5 team next year.

Big oof. I really hope this is not how the rest of the season goes, this team was fun to watch even without Hanifin and Tanev. Idc if they lose all the remaining games, but if the effort is anything like in the last two, I’m gonna have a hard time watching games. Gfg

I’m not overly worried. The Kadri line got blown up and I think the blending led to some not so good fits. Two new guys paired up in a style of defense they’re probably not used to. It’s hard to force the rhythm. Pops is back next game and I think that’ll help along with a little time to review with our new folks. Still have time to push but we’re running out of opportunities
