I’m as big of a Landy fan as they come, but this fairytale wish has got to stop. He would be so far removed from gamespeed let alone playoff intensity added to the mix. And for what? To possibly play minimal minutes and risk the rest of his career?
Let the man heal to his maximum potential. Come back at the start of next season and start fresh

As for the people telling us what we should wish for – that’s not for you to say. We can hope for him to return soon, or to wait until next year, or to retire. You don’t get to control that. The team will do what’s best for Landy and our hopes and expectations have nothing to do with that.

He’s clearly going to give it his best effort to come back, else they’d be shutting it all down like they did last season.
If he does manage to make it back, though, people really need to make sure they are managing their expectations correctly. He has not played competitively in two years – there is almost no chance he will be even remotely close to the player he was. That’s not to say it’ll never happen, but this is not a Forsberg/Kuch skip the regular season and jump right in thing.

He is NOT coming back in the middle of the playoffs to test his potentially career ending knee injury at a full 110% playoff intensity. It makes zero sense and it’s just not happening. Just stop.

The thing with both Bednar and Landy is that if he can’t go, he won’t. Gabe wouldn’t jeopardize the team he is the captain of and Beds wouldn’t jeopardize the team he coaches. Beds has literally never played roster favorites and everything is earned over an extended period of time, unless you’re Cale Makar and tbh he earned it in playoff game 1 alone lol.
I’ll keep hoping, but I’m not holding my breath.

The fact is no one knows, including Landy, his Doc, and McFarland. It’s useless to speculate, he’s out until he’s not and the soonest he could potentially be back is mid May. I don’t remember the exact number, but pretty sure only 2 NHL players have ever returned after missing two seasons and they weren’t top 6 players. Also pretty sure no athlete has come back from the surgery Lonzo Ball and Landy got. Patrick Kane got his hip resurfaced and is doing well. Payton Manning got experimental neck surgery and won a super bowl after. So it’s not hopeless but they won’t know until he’s cleared to try skating hard and making cuts and that’s not until May. Personally I think if there’s no setbacks and they get to the WCF he will play.

Pass. We have all the guys locked up for at least one more year. Don’t chance him coming back and getting fucked up again. But then again I’m not a doctor and I’m not landeskog lol. Only he knows his capabilities

They’ve clearly made moves with the idea that O’Conner would be out and Landeskog likely will be. As long as the core (Landeskog excepted) is healthy and available (note: this absolutely includes Nichushkin), I think the Avs have enough depth right now to make a serious run without Landy. If he can somehow come back that would be great, but even if he can, he’d likely have to start on the 4th line and work his way back in slowly… it’s a tough task to bring someone back into a playoff lineup after they haven’t played for two years. But they probably have to give it a shot with someone like Landy if he is cleared.
