It has been clear for awhile now, that Matheson continues to move the puck to the side Caufield and Slick Nick are on. Slaf can be wide open and he continues to look him off.
put xjacki on the first power play and put matheson on second .
I have been saying this for over a month its not only Mathersson its Cole Caufeild aswell and its been going on befor Slavskovsky did his one-timer goal a while back .
I'm pretty sure there's no drama other than one that has been created by McCagg. Slaf has been a top line player for like 3 months. It makes sense that Matheson is leaning more on our veteran captain and leading scorer and a proven trigger man like Caufield. Give it a little time…not to mention the PP is working relatively fine as it is.
Matheson is the most overated Defenseman since Josh Gorges.
I don't think there is a tention between those two at all.
It's interesting, I hope the Canadians can bring up 2 of the defense from Laval as soon as Laval season is over or they want to import university players to Laval,.but is the best one even allowed in to the NHL yet. ?? From what I've seen they have a powerplay point in the making down there.

They have no idea how to enter the zone on the PP and what's worse they always do the same thing.

There is no drama 🙂 But I think that was with Slaf from beginning, even if he was in perfect position to pass, the players pass to nonsense position and Habs lost the puck, but now also the Suzuki started passing to Slaf more and more and you see great results, becouse they realised how good he is, the same realised the opnents so they defend him during powerplay with two players so Matheson have to pass to other players, but belive me more Slaf goals and assist from Slaf will come, greatings from Slaf and Habs fan from Slovakia 🙂

Well, you are not the only one , who had noticed that!!! I dont think its kind of tension, maybe just selfish act, as you mentioned, he is not stupid, so its higher probability to get point if he passes to Suzuki or Caufield
I noticed it too and was wondering WTH. Many times Matheson should have passed to Slaf and he didn't. GREAT POINT
There is no gray zone. It has been obvious and infuriating. Either it's part of the set plays and Slaf is somehow not aware of, which is a very long shot?? Either Matheson has very little vision which is also a very long shot, or Matheson has zero confidence in Slaf and is afraid of turnovers. This has to be addressed asap between both players and the coach because it could become an issue. I totally understand Slafs frustrations. I sometimes feel like throwing the controller on my TV lol.

It's been going on for some time now, Matheson has something against Slafkovsky. When Slaf got that PP one-timer I commented then 'WOW Matheson actually passed Slaf the puck'. Teams cheat to cut off Caufield and Matheson is either too stupid to pass to Slaf or hates him. Matheson is their best skating Dman, not their best Dman…he costs SH goals against, PP goals against, in the minus bigtime…he gets the most ice-time with the best forwards so gets points. He's a defensive liability. MSL isn't too bright letting this crap go on. …or maybe it's tanking, they don't want to score too much. I don't know but the sooner they get rid of Matheson the better.
There's no problem at all remember that they work on the power play in practice and if we're talking about this it's out there this is nothing but needless chatter to occupy our time.

For anyone who cares to look — Slafkovskys numbers were GARBAGE pre NHL. Ohhhh we will hear he played with men ( yes in a league that even Slafkovsky said was CRAP) He gets selected #1 overall… ( in any normal year he would be picked from 5-10th overall— where do those players end up??? —- AHL or stay in Europe= Like Reinbacher) But the Habs have a problem— a big problem #1 overall usually play in the NHL ( pressure from the agent from the family— Burn that 1ST ELC is worth MILLIONS— Slafkovkys agent says don't keep me in NHL we will remember that come second contract time.
Habs are stuck… cant send him to Laval WHY???? Well imagine first overall under the watchfull eyes in Laval (which really is montreal) If Slafkovsky stinks in Laval imagine the media noise???
What to Habs do— the CARRY the kid…. In the NHL… He is putrid in the NHL. Lets face it he stunk. Not only did he stink he was getting slammed silly.
What do they do— the greatest Phantom injury i ever saw
The players— The VETS know that Slafkovsky did not earn his way into top line powerplay and top line miniutes.
The Habs shut him down after 39 games???
Hughes will sit down and negociate next year and say
MR Slafkovsky and Mr Agent… remember how we burnt the first year ELC when your player was not physically fit… not ready for the NHL… but we kept him… we burnt the ELC… NOW SAYS VMR HUGHES— Remember us when signing second contract

The story behind the story
This has been very obvious for quite a while now. Suzuki is a tremendous player and has the best touch and vision on the ice. However, the PP has become too predictable time and time again because Matheson just about always feeds Suzuki. Feeding Suzuki is an amazing option, but if you know what is coming, it is pretty easy to defend. Trust your teammates. It doesn't mean that you don't favor Suzuki more, but you have to use all options if you want your PP to be successful.
This is bad couching , but MSL do nothing. Matheson is not only one. Cole ignore him most time 5on5….. He rather shoot the puck from angle or blue line as play with Slaf.
