I roll my eyes every time a crybaby claims there’s a loophole. That implies teams are taking advantage of some defect or inconsistency in the rules. The reality is “no salary cap in playoffs” is the rule. And it’s a rule the NHL, owners, the NHLPA, and all sane fans support — cause having your star players in the playoffs is good for the sport!
Petition for a rule change if you want, but don’t call it a loophole. It was designed this way on purpose! This isn’t some mistake or accident.

Most people hate it because one team does it so effectively and finds a way to do it every year but they as fans don’t quite understand how it is a good system.

Firstly I don’t think Stone is out because of cap circumvention. I will say this though, if the VGK were doing this, it’s not up to Stone to decide if he plays or not. That would be a GM decision.
