FLYERS: IVAN PROVOROV SIGNS 6 YEAR – $40.5M DEAL & TRAVIS KONECNY IS STILL HOLDING OUT….

The Flyers signed Ivan Provorov to a 6 year, $40.5M deal with an AAV of $6.75M! I love this move by Chuck Fletcher. There is still one big RFA left on that board and that is Travis Konecny. Alain Vigneault said he was “very disappointed” he is not there for camp as it is hard to start behind on a new system.

  1. Its looking more and more plausible, in my eyes, especially with the young forwards in the system, that Konecny could be dealt. New coach, new system, if Konecny isnt on board the train may be departing without him.

  2. With this deal the Flyers only have $6.67 million in cap space. It’s sucks we have 5 million tied up in traded players salaries and buyouts for the next seasons because Patrick is a RFA after this season. Money is tight, but Konecny is key to sign because he is consistent with his scoring with 2 back to back 24 goals seasons and he is a pot stirrer on the ice. I don’t think we should have brought in 2 veteran defensemen with 3.5 n 5.5 million salaries. Maybe just one would have done.

  3. I think this deal with Prov is good, but I got a question. Would you trade TK (if he holds out) and Patrick with either a 1st or 2nd round draft pick to Vancouver for Pettersson? This would neve happen of course, but what do you think of that scenario?

  4. Love this move, its going to be a fun season to watch. Really going to help this D and even open up more offense at times.

  5. When I was watching the flyers last year, provorov looked like he really struggled with playing defense. Like he sucked at it. Just me?

  6. Nolan P could be good but I feel like these injuries will just plague him and he will be below average, especially for a number 2 pick

  7. Its not a bad deal at all, guy is a physical specimen in terms of minutes, hes not going to score 60 points a year but hes a younger version of kimmo. I just don't know if they have adapted to the new nhl yet, its all about speed and skill and i dont see it with this team even with frost and farabee. Boston and the top teams know talent and from the flyers from an offense stand point, Flyers draft like the phillies. Its always 2 way centers, these kids are 17 years old and are good enough to show there skills against sub par talent as 2 way forwards, i want to see us draft someone thats a pure goal scorer its every year and its pissing me off. Instead we want too sign someone like Hayes who cant skate or needs full strides and is a version of JVR whos invisible for 10 straight games. No Playmakers on the team besides G and Vorachek and that's debatable for Jake, i hope im wrong but i just envision it
