The New Jersey Devils lost to the New York Rangers for the third time this season. While the gameplay was uneventful, Matt Rempe still made it memorable. This time, he committed another dirty play on Jonas Siegenthaler and injured him. Earlier in the game he turned down a fight with Kurtis MacDermid. He needs to learn better “NHL etiquette”.

Devils need to taught a lesson too. Yesterday should’ve been a massive team brawl. Instead these guys stand around while MAC is unable to get to Remepe. This organization is a disgrace! Can we please stop talking about the playoffs? What delusional universe do you live in I mean honestly?
Remepe the 6 foot 8 coward. kick him out of the league or he will do it again. I like the new goalies, too bad its too late.
MacDermid tried, and in this instance, I cannot blame him. Unless he first attacked the linesman, and that he should not do, he could not reach Rempe.
But, the hit on Bastion was clean. Bastion had his head down and put himself in danger. This is one of the problems with the NHL now. Players do not protect themselves. Guy has his head down, the hard hit that comes is on him.
Rempe hitting Siegenthaler. It looked like it was going to be a good check, then Siegenthaler sees it coming and moves to evade. Rempe then reacts and raises the elbow. Penalty? Yes. Major? Probably. Intentional going head hunting? Not so sure.
While I was playing, not close to this level, the hit on Bastion would have gotten me cheered and praised. The other one is a seat in the box. But, neither is head hunting illegally. The major for Rempe is a good call, this time. The one on Bastion was clean.
The Devils make the playoffs? Why? Does anyone think they can win a series, if they cannot win two games in a row?
He was waving by because he knew there season was over.Also why would he fight Mcdermitt in a 0-0 game and give the Devils momentum same reason why would he fight at 2-0 the Devils were dead and burried no reason to give them life .Last Rempe could give a shit about what Mcdermitt thinks of him Ryan Reeves Delaurie and some of the biggest heavy weights respect him Mcdermitt is a nobody

The reaction to this season will determine whether we'll see a perennial cup contender or not. The team is clearly broken and lacking confidence now. I'm hoping the more pain there is, the more fuel for the fire. It would be a positive to leaders on the team step up and hit and fight, but there doesn't seem to be anyone like that with the cache to do it inspirationally. Timo Meier might be the best candidate.
As far as offseason moves, in addition to a goalie, we need a strong defensive defenseman. Moving Palat is also the not talked about move that needs to happen to clear cap. Eating up to $2mm of his contract to facilitate seems well worth it if we can get a defensive defenseman.
I don't undestand what Rempe is trying to prove. He should be trying to prove that he can play Hockey in the NHL. Im sure playing in the NHL at 20 years old was a dream come true and worked hard for by him. Instead of trying to fight evey. Single player on the opposing team and cheap shotting them. 😮
McDermot proved he can play hockey. I think Rempe needs to do the same.
The way Rempe plays he won’t be in the NHL long. The true enforcers will make him over pay and he will wish he never messed with the Sasquatches of the NHL
To be honest, I initially quite liked Rempe (hit on Bastian aside)… the kid was trying to make a name for himself, fighting REAL hardmen 😎. But that elbow to the head, followed by no fight with MacDermid? Pussy move… big time. I hope Kurtis pops his eyeball out with a jab. If I was a Devils player I'd just wipe Panarin out, slam him into the boards, WHAT?

Go to your Rangers blogs and find lots of people who like the same team to debate/discuss with. First he lays a hit intends to injure on Nate. Now he does the same to Siegs. Laviolette told Rempe not to go. Fine. Message to Laviolette: you have your players purposely injure us we will respond. Have Smith / MacDermis / Lazar / Tierney / Timo or some Devil step up on April 3rd and with two hands take his stick a la Niedermayer and Peter Worrell Lafreniere right in the mouth and break his jaw. Either that or expect to get a stretcher ready for the next dirty hit on one of our players from Rempe or Trouba or another Ranger. Devils fans are the best fans in the NHL. We do not deserve our team backing down. We do not deserve a hangdog effort. Hear this Tom Fitzgerald? It is time for payback. They injure us? We injure them. Simple. Who cares about a suspension at this point? And the fine should be paid by Fitzgerald and the Devils organization. A MacDermis scrap w/ Rempe would be fine but taking out one of the Rangers top players and putting him on the IR would be better. Just replay the dirty hits on Nate Bastian and Siegs and tell me I am wrong.
As a Rangers fan, suspend Rempe. As for fight, all should be spontaneous not planned , bc, the refs can see that. Play tough and if fights happen right away, then so what. Injuring players intentionally is not cool. Oh, Potvin S#cks.
The officials held back MacDermaid because their desire was that Rempe was already being thrown out. Rempe got a 4 game ban.
