Morning Embers: Post-Game Clarity Edition

Flames lose to the Avalanche 6-2

Not much to say, three really good teams in a row, Vegas is next and I think the rest of the season now has a clear direction

Anyone who thinks Conroy will be able to keep this team out of the bottom 10 next season needs to shake their head. Outside of a miracle, the Flames will be bottom 8 in the league next season; and this is where we’re trending to finish this season.

While I hope he doesn’t sign aging veterans to contracts with long terms, no one he signs will make the team competitive next season.

I don’t think I was mentally prepared for us to turn to shit this fast. We’re certainly playing like a rebuilding team now so at least we know change is happening

While not upset with Conny on the return, it is painfully obvious right now how much Hanifin meant in the line up and just how steady he was on the backend.

Are we done edging the line of mediocrity fellas?

At least we know playoffs are impossible now and they woulda shit the bed anyways … still gonna be watching for the young guns!

  6. Really starting to see the impact Hanifin and Tanev had in pretty stark relief. You can’t easily replace players like that. Without them we’re struggling to shut other teams down, move the puck out of our own zone and transition effectively to offence.

I think we are going to be in for a few seasons of Young Guns again whether we like it or not.

  7. This loss feels like the nail in the coffin for this season. Womp womp.

  8. We’re tanking now, right? Aren’t we? Please?
