4-2 win for the Panthers tonight against the Dallas Stars!
It’s really eerie how this season is a mirror image of last season if you look at the Panthers and the Golden Knights. Last season the Cats were fighting to get into the playoffs while the Knights were firmly locked in. Knights were healthy and had first seeding and faced the 2nd wildcard in the west. The Panthers were banged up and had to look at the score board and see how other teams were doing as well as overcome all kinds of issues. They were tested nightly. At this point last season Vegas was cruising while the Panthers were running full speed ahead. As the 8th seed they faced the mighty Bruins and had to go through the stress and bang of three elimination games. Players were injured during this series, which would impact the outcome of the final. The series against Toronto and Carolina were a lot harder than the game totals would suggest. That first game against Carolina was effectively two games and took a lot out of the team. Vegas never went through that and was never tested. They arrived at the final relatively fresh, unlike the Panthers which arrived tired and hurt. The Knights had home ice while the Cats had to travel. At least they won game three and were not swept. This year so far it is Vegas that is in last place and banged up while the Panthers have the seeding to take on either the first or second wild card in the playoffs. Vegas will have to start off against the Canucks if the playoffs were today. They will also have to go through Edmonton or Colorado. Not enviable!
