We all know issue. Trash the patch
Believe what you like, but know that hockey is a very very superstitious sport. That is especially true with pros, who do things a certain way and in a certain manner.
So, when the Red Wings owner decided to defile the most beautiful jersey in sports by putting an advertisement on the front, he not only insulted every Detroit hockey fan who respected the jersey that hadn’t changed in many decades — but decided to do it during a 6-game win streak while chasing a playoff berth (its first in 7 years). At the moment he sold out the jersey, the Wings were the hottest team in the league, and all the pundits were lauding the Wings.
So, what has happened since the owner sold the jersey to a TRASH/REFUSE company?
Record: 0-6
Goals for: 11
Goals against: 32
Shots on goal differential: -74
Little things can go to your head in this sport. If you feel like taping the blade of your stick in a certain pattern at an exact time of day is going to benefit you, you do that consistently because you believe it helps in some way.
If you think a trash company’s advertisement on the shoulder of your jersey – whose existence started exactly at the time of your massive losing streak – is hurting you, then it is! So, you get rid of it BECAUSE IT SHOULD HAVE NEVER BEEN THERE IN THE FIRST PLACE.
So, thanks Chris Ilitch, the billionaire owner of the Red Wings who sold out the jersey for a 4yr/$15m contract. That’s right — less than $4m a year. I’m blaming YOU for this streak.
And I know I’m not alone.
Lalonde needs to go. There's no accountability from top down. Yzerman should have to trade the entire team every year because the coach isn't doing his job
We're in serious trouble for the playoffs this year. It is just slipping away.
Relax people, the Wings are still in a playoff spot.
He should have sold not bought. He thought this team was a playoff team. They aren't! He could have gotten some good assets for Kane, Gost, Petry, Holl! Stop saying it's not Steve's fault that the 25 million he spent in the off-season is not going to get them in the playoffs. It is totally on him.!
Can't believe a guy like McCarty won't even admit they need more physicality. This league needs to bring back hockey. European hockey is boring as hell.
