The Dallas Stars were playing one of their best games of the entire season until the final 10 minutes of last nights game against the Florida Panthers. The Stars surrender three 3rd period goals including to power play goals as the Panthers stun the Stars in Dallas last night by a final score of 4-3. Joey begins today’s episode of Locked On Stars discussing what he believed went wrong and led to the collapse. This was a great test against the best team in the NHL, and the Stars failed it and have struggled to close out games this season even when they win. Moving forward, games like last night will make or break the Stars season. The Panthers went 3-for-4 on the power play Tuesday night and made the Stars pay for taking penalties. Joey is frustrated that Esa Lindell and Jani Hakanpaa are still being used as a pair on the penalty kill. Chris Tanev was brought in to solve this issue and for some reason is not being used in these situations, besides when he was in the box for his own minor penalty late. On the brighter side, the NHL announced Tuesday that the Dallas Stars will be participating in the 2024 NHL Global Series next season! The Stars are headed to Finland to take on the Panthers for two games next November.

The inconsistent penalty killing and the play of Oettinger is becoming a real concern.
This is why Jim Nil isn't a winner. We knew!!!! We knew we needed one more dominate D man and he didn't do what needed to be done. See you next year!

Is anyone really surprised? Otter inconsistent as he has been all year, our incredible ability to blow a lead in the last 10 minutes of a game, our shit PP…need I go on? I hate to say it because I love my Stars but….this team is fraudulent.
So much for that defensive help. It really is time to give Suter some maintenance games off and see how Lundqvist progresses, especially against these lesser opponents in the next week. Jake was not the cause for this loss. And really, the oddball lucky first goal and the Esa skate deflection are just unfortunate for all the players. But you had to keep FLA in their end of the ice. We are probably a bit too old to keep up that torrid pace for a full 60. Kudos to Jamie for fully engaging in this one. Things go so much better when he decides to forecheck.
Ott needs to be pulled after 2 goals. When he is off he is off!
The Stars ran out of gas. Maybe some up and down team wind sprints will help. Clearly, number 21, Robertson was winded when he committed the game, losing penalty.

For anyone blaming Otter i dare you to check Hakanpaas stats in the game and still come away with the same conclusion. There is zero evidence Hakanpaa is a good defender
4 goals on just 10 shots and three of them in a span of just 3:29 in the third. That has been Otter ALL year. He has a gaa of 3+ and a sv% of .890. That is NOT elite and nowhere close to playoff caliber goal tending. There is something deeply flawed with what Otter has been doing this season and there is simply no hiding or ignoring it. Watch the games and the goals he allows and the overwhelming majority of them are scored top right or top left shoulder. Everyone has the tape on him……except Otter and the Goalie coach! WHY has he not figured this out by now and WHY does he continue to fall woefully short of expectations with ZERO accountability?

Panthers fan here and that game was awesome. I had money on the Panthers. I knew when we scored the first power play goal in the 2nd that we were going to win. Panthers are usually the Favorite but under the boosted on hardrock app they put them as +125. Panthers will always win you money.
