The New Jersey Devils have traded a conditional third-round pick to the Montreal Canadiens for goalie Jake Allen ahead of the NHL Trade Deadline. Jake Allen is hardly the solution to the Devils goaltending issues 😖
Fire Fitzgerald! He turned a 25 year old 30 goal scorer into a 2025 2nd round pick in less than a year. That's all he's left with. Jake Allen is just the cherry on top of the diarrhea sundae. Worst GM in the league!
I would keep him and VV for next season and after that then go get Saros in free agency.

So the devils went from Knocking on Lord Stanley's door to falling into the abis. They gave away Toffoli and retained part of his salary, They gave away Miller for a sandwich, and not they picked up a goalie that is no better (Stats show decline the last 5 years) then what they have? What was the point? They made a deal just to make a deal? Please, please let the Deviles call me now about season tickets. What a train wreck and laughing stock we have become

Could have had markstrom. Instead you were too cheap. Stanley Cup doesnt come cheap. It takes a gm with balls to win the cup.
Franchise is ruined they had a lay up with this team to be playoff team for years to come then you get rid of all the best prospects and don’t sign a few key players Fitz needs to go
Markstrom is too old. Season is over for Devils, get healthy and come back next year.

If I'm a goalie with a NMC/NTC, I would never waive to come here, unless it's for a ridiculous contract extension that would destroy the cap. You could watch film and see this team is extremely flawed and that they stopped playing and coasted the last 1/4 of the season. Who wants to play for an organization and players that completely folded. This was a terrible year and the stink may very well remain with them next year too unfortunately. In short, it ain't gonna be as easy as everyone thinks to get Markstrom, Saros or Ullmark.
