This 1978 Topps Baseball Wax Pack Hits Hard!

This 1978 Topps Baseball Wax Pack Hits Hard!

Hey there sports fans and car enthusiasts welcome to the channel it’s another shortish kind of video today as we’re opening a single pack of baseball cards we’re going back to 1978 to do it there’s a pack of 1978 Tops baseball there’s some big rookies

In here if we can find them you got your M traml you got your Eddie Murray uh we’ll see if we can find either of those or any of the other key iconic cards from 1978 right right Now all right folks like I said just wanted to hop in and do another quick little pack opening video as you see the 1978 tops uh we’ll see if there’s anything cool in this one obviously you got some big name rookies in there I’d love to find an Edie Murray

Rookie in there I feel the gum in there it’s the thick piece of gum 1978 uh this is supposedly pack fresh out of a uh or pack is straight out of a box that was opened up so I spent a decent amount of money on this not a ton

But it was I think less than 50 bucks but uh still worth it to try and see if there’s anything cool in here and open it for this channel so uh we’re going to hop right in and see if we can find anything cool we got a

Bob Shirley right on the back there it looks like and what we’ll do is I’m going open this pull the cards and the gum out off camera swap around there’s o okay I am not eating this gum today folks I can tell you that right now on the back is a

Checklist there’s another card have attached to that we’ll pull that aside and set that for later that’s the checklist you can see that gum’s got some foulness to it so I’m sorry folks as much as I love you all I am not hopping in and eating that gum like I’m

Little worried even just pulling that off of the Royals team card there which is a little scary looking uh yeah I don’t know about that one might just have to sacrifice that to the garbage Gods there but there’s a Royals checklist um and the nasty filthy

Gum attached to it I’m going to turn the rest these cards around so they’re all in order and show you we’re kicking us off with a Greg luzinski i’m this is going to go away sorry Royals team card sorry George Brett but uh I can’t I

Can’t abide by that nasty looking G I didn’t want to touch that Greg luzinski All-Star card kicks us off here after that we got Jerry Morales outfielder with the Chicago Cubs Jerry looking very photogenic there almost like a high school baseball shot and after Jerry we got Nino

Espinosa with the New York Mets again sportting the fluffy doo I love it after Nino is Lenny Randle with the Mets I always loved Lenny Randall gy hard-nosed player um doesn’t get as much credit as he deserves he was one of the one of the true Gamers man he loved to play the

Game after Lenny we got Jim Jim Willoughby almost call him John Willoughby very kind of offc Center I’m going to p as side and take a look take a look this a little bit closer very off-center cut on that card it almost looks like it’s perforated but

It’s not it’s just dotted lines for whatever the next card or maybe the separation perforation was for that but 1978 Jim Willoughby all right let’s pull the rest of these back over after that we got bab Boon catcher with the Phillies very cool that is not his not

Close to his rookie but Bob Moon Bob Shirley pitcher with the San Diego Padres remember watching him pitch is that a team card no what we got next we got Rolland office one of the best names in the game very cool outfielder for the Atlanta Braves

After Mr office we have look at that folks a 1978 Topps Nolan Ryan that’s a nice hit for sure and that might be that might have to go into uh get graded because that is sharp sharp Corners that could come out as a eight or nine at least folks so

That’s cool that’s a win right there then we got Rick Wise pitcher with the Red Sox after Nolan then we got what looks to be a team no was a rookie card okay this is a rookie card could it be the Moler traml let’s see what it is it is oh my

Goodness look at that it is a Moler tramel rookie card it’s one of the ones that does have a little bit of the red dusting there but that’s another one that might have to go get graded look at that folks we got the maler traml and the Nolan Ryan in one

Pack how cool is that there’s another Rook no that’s not another rookie okay with it be awesome if we got a Murray but I don’t think is we’re going to get a Murray that would be the ultimate pack right there we got one of our two

Actually two of our big hits here there we go Donnie Moore pitcher with the Cubs follows up Moler traml sad sad story about Donnie Moore if you don’t know about it go read up about it after the 86 season and then Jim sunberg catcher with the Rangers rounds out our pack but

Folks I am happy maybe the poison gum didn’t poison the pack because we got two really nice key cards there I got to be very careful picking these up here but we got 78 tops Nolan Ry and 78 tops trammer the trammer Moler and traml rookie card also Mickey Klutz and Y

Washington were you know players not to you know they they weren’t slouches either it’s a good good allun rookie card both those are you know almost perfectly align mind really sharp I’m going to have to put those in one touches and consider sending those off to get graded there you go folks that

Was a cool cool pack to open let me know what you think in the comments below I’m super stoked but you know and if I missed anybody there in the 70 78s uh that you like do uh let me know in the comments and uh give this video a like

If you haven’t already and subscribe if you haven’t already cuz uh we’d love to have you along for the journey as I keep opening packs like these mystery packs fun packs whack stuff showing off vintage cards all over the place love to have you a part of the

Journey so thanks for watching everybody and until next time Nolan Ryan bids you a big old fast ball thank you we’ll see you next time

Episode 187: Did this wax pack of 1978 Topps baseball make up for our deeply disappointing 1979 Topps pack? You betcha! Just wait and see what this pack produced!

  1. Wow, what an incredible pack! It started off slow and then bam 2 monster hits. Molitor is my favorite player growing up. And, congrats in advance for hitting 1K subs.

  2. Any time I think about Lenny Randle I remember that famous video of him on his hands and knees blowing a slow roller to 3rd foul. 😂

  3. UL Washington was an undrafted free agent signed by KC and sent to be developed at the Royals Academy. That was how they attempted to build up their minor leagues, turning nice athletes into baseball players or just taking chances on guys with potential. Frank White was also an UFA and graduate of the academy. I think Ron Washington was the only other of note that made it to the big leagues.

  4. Awesome hits with that Ryan and Molitor/trammell rookies. Those are both DEFINITELY worth sending in for grading. Incredible sharpness and centering! ! I actually have a PSA 7 O-Pee-Chee version of the Ryan. Incredible pack!

  5. What a thrill! Was not expecting that Molitor Trammell after already hitting Nolan, I was assuming that was the hard hitter. Just a note, I would refrain from pulling the pack completely off camera. I just suspect that if you ever hit something crazy you might end up with someone claiming it was faked. I realize it’s just for suspense and to not give anything away so I know there’s no funny business. This is a huge no no for breakers (there was a famous one like a year ago where a dude DID switch packs by pulling it just off camera..’ya dip?’) obviously these cards are just for you and Your channel, so I know it’s all legit, I just wouldn’t give anyone ammo to say otherwise if you can help it.

  6. I'm not saying this isn't legit, and it is a PC break, so there's no issue if it isn't. But once those cards leave the frame, I'm out. I just naturally assume there were some hijinks.

  7. Addressing concerns that I am pulling cards off camera: Folks that have called me out on this, thank you. I do realize now that doing this does give the perception that I could be stuffing packs/episodes with "hit" cards. I can only assure you I am not, and point to the many episodes here where I open completely dud packs. This 1978 pack was purchased from a local card shop and untouched until I opened it here (as was the 1979 pack that had absolutely nothing in it). I will try and be better with this going forward to avoid this issue and address this honestly completely fair critique. Note that I do tend to record a few of these at a time so the next few videos, I may do something similar, but going forward, I will make note of this when I record. Thanks for all of your support and feedback!
