The Sabres also improved defensively over that time: from the beginning of the season to January 1st they ranked 21st in xGA/60, from January 1st to today they rank 14th (per evolving hockey at 5v5).
I’ve been following UPL since his big finals game in the lower leagues where he lost with something like 65 shots against
Thought he deserved way more shots in the NHL and just needed more time. So happy he finally got his shot this year at being a starter and getting some help in front down the stretch
I don’t know that fans were necessarily wrong to want to waive the guy, but boy are we as a fanbase eating some crow, and I don’t think anybody is upset about it.
Upie has pretty single-handedly kept the squad in contention and I am here for it.
I’ve never been happier to have been wrong about getting rid of him and putting all our faith in Levi.
