I created this video to show that the Toronto Maple Leafs not signing Zach Hyman to a long term contract was on the biggest mistakes that they have ever made. Instead, Hyman has become one of the best goal scorers in the NHL with the Edmonton Oilers. And he is an amazing player in the playoffs, which is exactly what the Toronto Maple Leafs would have needed. I still don’t understand why the Leafs didn’t sign him. He brings a lot of value to the Oilers with is contract.

Nope! He is a 40-goal scorer solely because he plays with McJesus and Draisaitl; both have amazing ability to pass the puck.
If he plays with Matthews, he'll be lucky to get 40 assists!
Makes me laugh hysterically when I read "it's because he plays with McDavid, durrrrrr". Indeed. That's why.
I mean, we all saw all of McDavid's other wingers bag 50 goals too, right? Puljujaarvi, Maroon, Lucic, Caggiula, James Neal, Chiasson…. Yep, they were all 50 goal scorers. It's all McDavid's doing.
It's amazing how pathetic people can be, to rob a player like Hyman, of the credit he deserves, all because they are bitter he got away from their team, or, that they never went to their team in the first place.
How dare you say Dubas made a mistake? Why would it be silly to not sign the one forward who plays hard and has more grit then the core 4 combined? Look at how he's turned Pittsburgh around……
The leafs are just bad… And have been bad for a long LONG time. Hyman is exactly where he needs to be. You know.. On a team that CAN actually make it out of the first round.
Definition of hard work pays off. Hes not the greatest in any single category but he puts them together and works hard to see success.
Sure he plays with McDavid on the Oilers powerplay but hes earned that spot fair and square.
I'm hoping he retires a Oiler and gets us to the cup.

The main issue wasnt matthews, nylander or marner. It was the signing of Tavares which made it difficult to fit even 5.5m at the time under the cap.
They let Hyman go because they believed Bunting could fill the Hyman Voidš¤£š¤£š«µš¾

With like 18 games left of the season if he gets a couple more hattys and scores almost every game he could potentially hit 60 goals. One of the best signings the oilers ever made,. Gotta love Hyman
Hyman wasn't a Soo Greyhound.. ask Kyle Dumbass. Bunting was a hollow replacement… and geez.. He just arrived in super swell Pittsburgh.. We still have Morgan Orr for the next 7 years at 7.5M.. so that;s spiffy! Leaf fans are sad.. You know who's not? Zach.. The Oilers are very much ''the same missing parts'' away from a Cup as the Leafs… And I think The Oilers are not as cap cuffed and may break through first.
As an Oiler's fan, I'm elated with the Zach Hyman signing. Hyman brings it every single night; he's a talented player with determination and character. I've seen him put this very talented team on his back at times.

Hyman does not score at this pace in Toronto. Mathews is the trigger man. If McDavid shot at Mathews' pace, Hyman would have maybe half the goals he has. That's not taking anything away from Hyman, it's just the situation. As for TO not signing him, it is possible he just wanted to go to EDM. I know, shocker…
Didn't Hyman have to leave because the Leafs didn't have the cap space at the time??

things like this happen in a trade , a player finds chemistry with other players , like the time Leafs traded 50 goal scorer Leeman for Dougie , best trade we ever made
At the time the Leafs didn't have the Cap space or they would've signed him. Same with, bunting, Mikheyev, Foligno, Oreilly and countless others.

I love Zach and hated to see him leave Toronto, but this is as it is. You can only afford so many high priced players. If you want to really scratch your head ask why Chicago gave up Phil Esposito back in the day only to see him score 76 goals one season and then two Stanley Cups. Well, Bobby Orr May have helped. Itās always easy to second guess Gms. Hope Zach wins a Cup. And my Leafs too.
Lest ye forget, Coach Babcock was the first to recognize his potential with more ice time which was reportedly against the rest of management opinion.

As an Oilers fan I am so glad that Zach Hyman is scoring and putting in the work ethic. I can imagine the Leafs trying to fit Hyman under the salary cap is like having McDavid and Draisaitl and two others of the same level and trying to fit them all under the cap š
