This could be a PROBLEM for the Canucks…

The Vancouver Canucks lose to the Washington Capitals 2-1, Quinn Hughes early on to Brock Boeser, Alex Ovechkin scored again, JT Miller had a strong game, but ultimately the boys in blue came up just short.

  1. Don't apologize get some glasses bonehead, the guy is staring at the play from 10 feet away and it's obviously not icing

  2. when you compare the b*tch slapping edmonton put on this team 2 days ago it demonstrates just how much farther down the cup road they are to vancouver.

  3. This isn't about Lindholm or Pettersson. This is about yet another management group over-rating their roster. We've had great runs before in the last 3-4 years. The analytics told us that the start the Canucks had this year wasn't sustainable. Blame the refs and the goalie all you want, but in the end, if you don't score more than a goal, you don't deserve to win. It's one thing to play "low event hockey" (the 2024 version of The Trap), but you still have to win those games. DeSmith hasn't cost them a game yet since Demko got hurt.

To an extent, I understand. Management saw the great start, ignored the overachieving analytics and realized that they weren't going to be able to keep all of these players together immediately and felt they had to capitalize on "lightning in a bottle." Now we're seeing what the analytics were saying all year. Pucks were just going in for them before the ASB. Now, they're not. They've come back down to earth.

I got attacked on social media for saying the team wasn't as good as they seemed, that I was a pessimist and (my favourite) "not a real Canucks fan." Obviously, Dakota Joshua has been excellent this year and you need scoring depth, but if you're relying on your 3rd line every night to win games and one guy getting hurt from that line derails the team, you weren't as good as you thought you were.

It's easy as a fan to flip and say the Lindholm trade was stupid, especially when you were one of the people thinking they were contenders before the trade. I contend it was the belief that the team was better than they actually were that was ill advised. The analytics didn't lie. This is Vancouver. If you're getting people's hopes up, you have to deliver. Maybe they turn it around. My guess is that Elias Pettersson is playing hurt.

I don't see a significant difference in the way they're playing now as opposed to when they were winning. Sure, they had more jump, but that's easy when you're getting all the breaks. Pucks were just going in. Now they're not. As a coach, I don't know what else you can do except hope they get some of their old luck back because I've seen this show before in Vancouver, and fairly recently.

  4. We can all agree the first goal was assisted by the linesman. Second was a little lazy on our part. The rest of the game wash goalie stood tall.

  5. It seems like they lost there momentum after that icing call on Giuseppe. I also feel like the boys just need to skate faster.

  6. This is one of the best Hockey channels around!! great insight, analysis and overall enjoyable presentations ,my go to channel for canuck hockey

  7. a bad icing call results in an offensive opportunity against fatigued players. a bad penalty call results in an offensive opportunity against 4 players. the latter is a much better opportunity to score, and the Canucks were the beneficiaries of a phantom call on Sandin in the third. bad officiating goes both ways, and the Canucks were gifted the better chance.
The difference is the Caps capitalized while the Canucks didn't

  8. A lot of outside play from the Canucks. Need to get on the inside of the puck and win those battles. Overall, Great Video!

  9. keeping the whole team power for playoff is Canucks majority thinking about ,losing some games will be normal!

  10. In the beginning of the season until now, the Canucks have been really potent after the 2nd period…. They had that one stat where they were up by the 2nd they would always win. Now, they been fumbling too much. They would score early in the first and it feels like they just plummet… Someone who understand hockey and Canucks better than me, please explain
