They could make things a lot more interesting by positioning an opposing player at the opposite end of the ice and behind the goal line and with that player being cut lose as soon as the shooter touches the puck. This would put some pressure on the shooter in that he wouldn't be able to just dilly dally around for so long.

I love how you shit talk goalies having no clue what youre talking about. He shoots left.. He will score a super high % on that side. You have to give up 5 hole or drop the blocker as he gets closer. This is a hard one to stop even if you know its coming.
When i was a kid i saw Patrick Kane slow down in front of the goalie and stickhandle and people seemed to love it. I sense some anti-Russian bias (Russophobia?) from the haters

Perfectly legal move. Tactics vary, and that's a good thing. Game would be boring if everyone did the same thing all the time.
