Today we’re going over a trade offer discussed in the most recent episode of the Missin’ Curfew podcast, a show hosted by former NHL’ers Shane O’Brien, Scottie Upshall, and Jimmy Hayes.
On the show, Hayes mentioned how, according to sources he has, the Ottawa Senators are preparing to make a trade to the New York Rangers, which would see 2018 NHL Entry Draft 4th overall pick Brady Tkachuk go over to New York along with the San Jose Sharks 3rd overall pick in the 2020 NHL Entry Draft—acquired in the Erik Karlsson trade by Ottawa—in exchange for the 1st overall pick, which would most likely be “Alexis Lafreniere”.

you're right, it is ridiculous. when you hear a rumor like this, ignore it. the rangers make this deal every day. as good as lafreniere is, you'd rather have tkachuk AND byfield/stutzle. brady isn't going anywhere. the sens are making him their next captain. you can bet on that because otherwise it would be chabot now. there is no way in hell ottawa does this.

I am a DIE HARD Senators fan. No. NO. Tkachuk is a guarantee player. He will get you 25-35 goals a season for years to come, he does it all. Then #3 overall? That can be Stutzle, Byfield or Raymond and it's more then possible that those guys end up being just as good or better than Lafreniere. Ottawa is trying to do this for fan revenue. They would win immediately in fan revenue but this trade would haunt them for decades. Easy L.
