Why Red Wings Should Fire Their Head Coach And Save The Season | The Daily Ticket

The Detroit Red Wings have played some truly regrettable hockey for almost a month now. They get out-scored by a wide margin, they struggle to play defense, they look lethargic and they might miss the playoffs too. The Wings have lost 8 of their last 9 games and Jeff Riger believes the team must move on from head coach Derek Lalonde. In the NHL, firing a head coach during the season happens more than you think and most of the time it actually works. Riger shares the data as he is convinced the only way to save the season is to part ways with the man in charge. Also, MSU makes the tournament, Oakland gets a prime time date with Kentucky and a couple of candidates who could replace Juwan Howard at Michigan. It’s a jammed pack podcast on the latest episode of The Daily Ticket

  1. Agree. Lalonde has to go. He is way to soft. His sytem or whatever he has the team running is not working. And they continue making the same mistakes! More of the same again

  2. Maybe he should be fired but what about Steve Yzerman ? He knew his top center was out and he was using his 3rd string goalie. What did he do at the deadline – NOTHING – except move his toughest guy for almost nothing. Did he try to improve the team ? Did he try and get a goalie? (since our top goalie was out). To me, this is mostly Yzerman's fault.
