As a diehard canucks fan i completely agree with this, florida has proven time and time again to go deep or come close (to the lightning) although i think flordia wins in 6 i am happy to see the canucks even in a playoff spot
I think this is Hurricanes year to win. If they take that first spot in the Metro and don't blow it in round 1, they'll basically be facing teams that had to grind through their previous matchups while the Hurricanes got it easier. That's what I think REALLY decides who gets the cup, the team that has had the best matchups along the way and shows up to the finals less tired and harmed.
The Florida Panthers last year were a better team than Vegas, but they basically went through a meat grinder on their way to the finals
Now for predictions, there's no way to tell the future so I'm just going to go with my semi-realistic wish for finals: Canes vs Preds. Carolina vs Tennessee would be amazing as someone who's grown up back and forth between both states
If Igor stays hot and the defense does its job the rest will take care of itself in NY.. theyâre unbeatable in 7 games. Good luck to the rest of the NHL if the stars align

Islanders??? The Islanders who are only in the running because of their 14 loser points in overtime, and would otherwise be near the bottom of the conference? The Islanders with their marginal goaltending this year? The Islanders who've given up the 2nd most goals of any team in playoff position? The Islanders who don't have any depth? THOSE Islanders? I realize anything can happen, but the Rangers would almost certainly make short work of that series.
Idk vegas made some big moves last year and won the cup. They have 18 games to build chemistry, thats more than enough time. But well see, vegas is honestly the biggest wild card i can see them being first round exits or cup champions

The Islanders are literally below .500 as we speak (29-35) and are only (currently) in the playoffs because of the loser point – and they very much could miss the playoffs entirely.
So you have them beating a team that absolutely dogged them in the outdoor game, pulling off a multi-goal comeback in the final minutes to win in OT, that is currently more than 10 games over .500, who just fixed their even-strength scoring at the deadline, went on a 10-game streak this year, and have perennial Vezina candidates (yes, plural) in net?

I betted 75$ on the Jets, 75$ on the Canucks and 75$ on the Stars. Goaltending is everything in the playoffs. One of Hellebuyck, Demko or Oetti are going to win a cup this year. I hope the Jets can get it done with what I think is the best goalie duo in the league in Hellebuyck and Brossoit.
