Brad Marchand and Matthew Knies – Tough Call Review

Brad Marchand and Matthew Knies – Tough Call Review

Here’s a look at the incident between Brad Maran and Matthew nice and I’m almost afraid to post this because I know people think I’m a Maran Defender but I’m just being objective and that’s all I’m asking you to be watch this play develop both players do the exact same

Thing Maran and N are both approaching this incident this collision with the same goal in mind to avoid slamming in to the Boston Bruins player that’s between both of them you guys keep saying marant leaves his feet well what he does is he picks his left leg up

Because he doesn’t want to slam it into his own teammate n picks up his right leg for the very same reason they both pick up the leg that is closest to that player so that they don’t slam into him and they’re just going to try and go

Around them and they just happen to go into the same space I’ve isolated Mar in here and I’m just going to show you he’s watching the least player go behind the net now he looks up and he sees his teammate and now he might see nce coming

And he’s trying to avoid them both so he picks up his leg to get around his teammate sees nce coming keeps his leg up in the air and then it just happens that there’s nowhere else to go but into ni he doesn’t leave his feet they both

Pick one foot up on purpose and then the force of the right now lifts him off the other leg it also lifts n off his other leg so they both raised their leg and they both leave their feet it just so happens that one guy was in a better position for

Contact than the other when the Collision occurred this is just an unfortunate comedy of errors that brought two players into the same space at the same time and one person had slightly more time to prepare than the other that’s really all it is

Matthew Knies was injured on this collision with Brad Marchand. It was accidental and both players did the exact same thing to get there.

  1. Yes and Brad Marchand is always so lucky in these situations… wink … It reminds me of Cory Perry and John Tavares in the playoffs… accidental but why bother trying to avoid when I can take this opportunity to dig in a little harder, or stiffen the muscles in the leg to make the impact worse. Zero benefit of the doubt here.

  2. Anyone who's ever played hockey has played against players that are dirty… they are opportunistic, any chance they get, especially chances where there a gray zone, they take the opportunity to hurt the other player. Marchand is a dirty player.. no benefit of the doubt for him.

  3. Buddy… these kind of "accidental" hits have followed Marchand his whole career. There is just way too many for them to all be accidental. He knows what he's doing and is really good at disguising his greasy plays. If you go back and watch the McCabe crosscheck to Marchand's neck earlier in the game you will notice Marchands sneaky little spear to McCabes family jewels prior to the crosscheck. It's really hard to catch because again Marchand is really good at hiding these greasy moves.

  4. Totally valid. Agree 100 percent. I’ve seen dirt and this isn’t it.

But suspend Marchand for 4 games anyway. For the lulz

  5. If you have time to brace for the collision then you have time to avoid the collision. These athletes make split decisions all the time, no excuse.

  6. While I have a tough time agreeing that ANYTHING Marchand does isn’t on purpose, this video is fantastic and makes a ton of sense.

It’s well broken down and I love how you walk through the play, frame by frame with good explanation.

Cheers and keep up the good work dude!

  7. The hit at regular spped is unavoidable. Sometimes taking the contact is the safest play. When players try to avoid the hit you open yourself and the other player to way worse injuries.

  8. You are fair. I think Knies – turning away from where the puck was going – tried to run over the smaller Bruin player Marchand – without understanding Brad knows how to handle himself within playoff rules (lots of contact).

Marchand just braced himself strongly for the contact – putting the larger Leaf player out of the game.

The Leafs without a playoff run – just don’t learn how to perform within playoff officiating- until after they leave Toronto.😀

  9. Funny how the angel Marchand has his stick up around Knies neck and strangely hits him in the face with his shoulder. This was no “accidental contact” and Marchand should be suspended. For some reason he gets away with injuring another Leaf (remember the hit on Liligren earlier in the season that put him out for a significant period. The NHL is either blind or more likely Boston is padding the pockets of those that review these decisions.

  10. The way Marchand arms and hand are after impact, you can tell he was not ready. He does not have that stance if he was delivering a body check. Once he realized that he was going to make contact he adjusted his body. But that happens in 1second. This is a fast pace game.

  11. May have been an accidental collision, but Marchand added force to make the lower jaw/neck area the primary point of contact. Should have been called. I have no clue how Marchand continues to get away with this crap.

  12. This hit isnt the problem, its the fact that its always happening to him.

Its like the boy who cried wolf with cross checking

  13. Knies is playing tonight and looks fine. All you snowflakes complaining about Marchand need to relax. He's a dirty player. We all know it. Move on.

  14. At the speed they are both skating and trying to avoid a collision with the other Bruins player there is no way to avoid a collision. Accidental contact. Just because you dislike a player doesn't mean every play is dirty or intentional

  15. Tough call. No thumbs up and lots of comments, Sounds like you are wrong on this video , Marchand is the dirtiest player in the game , so anything he does is intentional, It’s just hard to believe a player this good, is such a goof. Can’t believe nobody has beat his face in.

  16. you need to get a new pair of glasses Knies has both skates on the ice and marchand is looking at Knies the whole time and brings the knee up into Knies.
