    >Trouba’s lower-body injury pressed Jones into action at the beginning of last week’s stretch of six games in nine days, and he’s excelled. Since then, he’s only been on ice for one goal against in 93:55 total time on ice, during which the Rangers have outscored opponents, 4-1, and out-chanced them, 40-28, according to Natural Stat Trick.

    >He credits his skating − “I’m using my feet, having some confidence, a little bit of swagger,” he said − which has him effectively jumping in the offensive rush and making quick, decisive reads to quiet critics of his defensive-zone coverage.

The swagger is noticeable. He really does look like a different player from just a year ago.

  2. Having watched him for two years playing in Hartford it’s cool to see him make the step by step progress and come into his own with the Rangers.

Love this kid. He’s sat back and waited his turn without ever bitching or complaining or demanding a trade, and he plays hard whenever he gets an opportunity… I really hope he gets a chance to cement a full time role in the lineup come next season.

If doesn’t ever get a chance to become a permanent starter he should definitely be playing 2nd d

Jonesy has been great when not stapled next to Schneids. Those 2 are simply awful together but Jones seems to be excelling being paired with literally anyone else. As long as Lindgren is injured this isn’t a real issue but we’re going to have some problems once everyone is healthy.

Once Troubs comes back and before Lindgren does I can see the pairings looking like:

    Miller – Fox

    Jones – Trouba

    Gus – Schneids

Whatever we do Jones can’t be paired with Schneider.

Biggest thing he credits is his skating, something Trouba does not excel at.

I think the ascension of Jones and the constant injury issues of Lindgren are gonna show it’s time to bid that farewell. Short of him taking a frankly ludicrous short term home discount extension you just cannot sign him long term

This summer, Gustaffson is gonna get a pay day from Isles or Flyers and Jones will step in.
