So we are one week away from the OHL playoffs the 2023 24 ol regular season is coming to an end as of Sunday it’s been a wild ride we’ve had a lot of twists and turns ups and downs both on and off the ice and it all comes down to

This so before we start the last week the regular season let’s look back at the week that was the OHL Power Rankings and how things could finish as we get ready for the playoffs starting off at number 20 the winds are spit fires they fell two spots this week the focus for

Windsor obviously is on next season right now though team’s on a 10 game losing streak this is a season they just want to put behind them uh for Windsor they play their last home game Thursday night against Erie before wrapping up the season on the road against London

And Saga and for the Spitfires they do have the second best odds at winning the draft lottery so there is the consolation prize right number 19 the Niagara ice dogs they’re up one spot Niagara able to snap their game losing streak with a win at home against the

Barry Colts yesterday that was a three- nothing final Charlie Robertson he made 30 saves for his fourth career OHL shut out looked pretty good in that game Niagara four games this week so it’s a busy way to end the regular season starts tomorrow in Barry for the makeup

Game and then they’re in Branford Wednesday before hosting Mrs Saga and Sudbury so for the Ice Dogs they do have the best odds of winning the draft lottery so they’ve got that going for them right at number 18 the Barry Colts they fell four spots this week the Colts

The last team to clinch a playoff spot in the OHL but it it was thanks to a Peter bro Pet’s loss so not exactly the way the the Colts wanted to clinch a playoff spot but they’ll take it it’s been a busy schedule to end the year

Last week they played four games this week they have four games this team looks a little exhausted they could use a little extra boost in their step maybe some coffee but uh for the berry Colts uh they’ve also been dealing with some injuries suspensions so everything’s just piling on uh the latest injury

Being Rowan EG jwen sounds like he’s out for the rest of the season and potentially into the playoffs also Zack wiel he suffered an injury in the game against Niagara no update in regards to his status H but for Marty Williamson and the coaching staff I’m sure they’re

Going to want to rest some guys maybe play some of the younger guys a little bit more uh just to to finish off the schedule they’re home tomorrow against the Niagara Ice Dogs and then they travel to North Bay Wednesday sudre on Friday before hosting Peterboro on

Saturday and for the Barry Colts uh they’ve locked up eighth in the East so they cannot catch the Kingston FRX for seventh at number 17 the Peter bro pets no change for them the Pet’s playoff chances officially came to an end on Saturday when they lost to the North Bay

Battalion the pets though they’ve been playing a little bit better of late they went one and two last week the pets they have the third best odds right now for the OHL draft lottery three games left on the season they host Ottawa on Thursday before going to Barry and North

Going to finish ninth in the west Seria they do have three games remaining they’re in Sue St Marie Wednesday night then home against sagov Friday and then they finish the season in Flint at number 15 the GU storm entering March the storm they were one of the most

Underperforming teams in the OHL at the time but with the playoffs a week away they’re showing signs of improvement 12 two and one last week an overtime loss coming against the sagona spirit that game they did have the lead but uh just fell short in that game Josh Bloom

Eighth so two points separating fifth from eighth in the west it’s going down to the wire the storm have four games this week they in Kitchener tomorrow and then they play a crucial home and Home Series against the Owen Sound attack who hold the seventh spot and then they end

The season in London on Sunday at 14 the Kingston FRX they fell two positions this week Kingston they’ve locked the seventh seed in the East after going two- one last week they wi yesterday today against North Bay a bit of a confidence booster for them they won 4-3

In overtime Paul Lewinsky recorded the hatrick and it was the game winner to to top it off he had the selfie stick celebration if you haven’t seen that one it’s it’s a lot of fun uh so we’ll see what Kingston can do as they get ready for the playoffs the front acks two

Games remaining both at home they’ll play against Ottawa and Branford so a chance to maybe play spoiler against their two division Rivals at number 13 it’s the Owen Sound attack no change for them it continues to be an on again off again season for Owen Sound they went one and two last

Week losses against kitner and the Sue and then they won yesterday over Sudbury they held on to that Victory Owen Sound one more win will get him to 30 on the season and what’s fascinating is if they can do that uh that would mean 13 consecutive 30 win seasons for Owen

Sound and the only other team with an active streak similar the London Knights for the whole Canadian hockey league so a cool little stat there I’m sure for Owen Sound fans they had higher expectations for this team but still a little bit of a bright spot Owen Sound

Is seventh right now onepoint back at G and Erie and the attack only two games left on the schedule and both against the GU storm so very crucial two games coming up for them at number 12 the Branford Bulldogs they fell one spot the Bulldogs they’ve been dealing with key

Injuries basically since Christmas H Nick lardis Thomas homra and Cedric Okat tundu all out due to injury but they’re still finding ways to be competitive they still have a shot for first in the East Branford one and two last week they’re fourth right now in the Eastern Conference standings Five Points behind

The first place generals so if the Bulldogs are going to pass Oshawa they need to win the remaining games to have a chance and that includes at home Wednesday against NRA and then they travel to Kingston and Ottawa number 11 the Sudbury Wolves they fell six positions the Wolves tumbling down the

Power rankings right now they were one and two last week tough losses against oswan and Owen Sound but they put Nate kotuk back in the net after sitting as the third string goenda win 6-1 over the Barry Colts so we know this team they have one of the

Best offenses in the league no question but when they play better defensively and play disciplined hockey those two key things they win more oftentimes than not so Ken McKenzie and the coaching staff I don’t know what they need to do to get this team to focus a little bit

More but sbur they could still go on a deep playoff run here we’ll have to wait and see uh they do have key players have lineup due to suspensions Nathan vov and Evan Conan and Chase cogin might be added to the suspended players list he took a check to the Head penalty against

The ens sound attack so there’s no official word yet on a suspension but just with the way everything’s been going this season expect maybe a suspension here before the postseason Sudbury though they still have a slight chance of finishing first in the Eastern Conference the division though it’s well

The Sagen Spirit the otters right now sixth in the west ties with wealth for fifth the storm however they do have the tiebreaker if they do end up tied at the end of the regular season the otter are on the road to face flint and Windsor before wrapping up the season at home

Against kitner at number nine the Flint Firebirds they’re up one position the Firebirds they’re riding a four game point streak last week going 20 and one Flint they’re eighth right now in the west but they could finish as high as fifth they’re just two points behind G

Eerie and one point behind Owen Sound that just goes to show how close the standings are in the west between Fifth and eth just two points separating those four teams they do have three games to finish the regular season it starts with a big game against the otter at home

Thursday night before traveling to the Sue and then home to sernia at number eight the Kitchener Rangers no change for them they’ve secured the fourth seed in the west so they have home I Advantage which is going to be a lot of fun at the odd one

Of the better venues to see Junior Hockey uh especially at playoff time kitner they went one in one last week no issues with Owen Sound but then they fell short in gal they do have three games remaining they’re home to G tomorrow and oswa Friday before traveling to Erie who could be their

Amazing start to the year they slipped a bit in the standings mid and but now they’ve kind of bounced back so they appear to be back to where we saw them at the start of the regular season they still don’t have Porter Marton that’s a big loss he suffered an injury against

Windsor it was a slash that he took but the steel heads they went three and0 last week they’re riding a 10 game point streak and they’re first in the Central division three points behind oswa for first in the conference so an off chance they could finish first in the East Miss

Saga they do have two games remaining North Bay Sudbury the two teams chasing them in the Central Division they have three games remaining so it’s going to come down to the wire if Miss Saga can hold on to the division um but for this week they’re in Niagara Thursday and

Then host North Bay Friday so that game Friday night at Paramount Fine Food Center could potentially decide who’s going to finish first in the division at number six it’s the Ottawa 67s no change for them from last week a decent week for them they went two and

One those two wins though coming against the Barry Colts they had a home and Home Series earlier in the week and they outscored Barry 12 to six in those two games so the offense came alive for Ottawa they’re sixth in the East the highest they can finish is third so home

ICE Advantage still a possibility which would be pretty big for the 67s they are in Peterboro Thursday night and then Kingston for home to Branford who are one of the teams are trying to catch in the standings Branford right now sitting fourth in the east at number five we have the seagen

Spirit they are down two spots this week a bit of a disappointing road trip for Sagen one and one on the two- game trip they had to come back late to beat the GU storm in overtime Josh Bloom was the hero in that game with 12 seconds left

In overtime and then they lost one goal 5-4 to the irot on the road so bit of a disappointment for them sagonos still Four Points back at London for first in the Western Conference and five points ahead of the Sue Greyhounds for first in the west division so the spirit they can

Lock up the division with a win and this week they’re in Sarnia before hosting Windsor and then they travel up to sue St Marie so maybe the division will be up for grabs when those two meet that would just add to the Rivalry it’s been every game between wi Saga and Sue St

Maria have been a lot of fun to follow and just adds to the chapter on the last night at number four the North Bay Battalion they are up four spots and look out for North Bay they’re 20 and one last week right now riding a four-game point streak Anthony Romani

Now tied with David guette for first in scoring with 105 points and he’s first in goals with 53 and don’t count out Dal Wakley either he can still hit the Sentry Mark for points he’s sitting at 98 with three games to go so the North Bay offense getting it done also on Van

Final three games at home so they have that Advantage it starts Wednesday against snia then they host flint and then wrap it up against Sagen at number two the London Knights they’re up two spots this week London back to their winning ways they went three and0 last week extending their winning streak to

Five games Easton Cowan also extending his point streak to 34 games that sets a new franchise record for London passing Dave Gilmore the night’s first in the league Four Points up on Sagen if they do end up tied with Sagen for top spot in the Western Conference standings the

Spirit would have the tiebreakers so keep that in mind uh the final two games are at home for the nights they take on Windsor and G so for the third week in a row the oshaa generals they are number one in the power rankings oshaa three

And0 last week key wins over Miss Saga and Sudbury and their winning streak is now at 10 games the generals they’re in the driver seat for the Eastern Conference a win or a Bulldogs loss clinches them their East Division title and right now three points ahead of Miss

Saga for first in the conference and four points up on North Bay so for the generals they have two games remaining they’re in Kitchener Friday before hosting SB on Sunday and if oswa does Finish First in the East that means we’ll see the generals and the Colts uh

Meeting in the first round which uh will be an interesting one of course the story lines Thomas Stewart against his former team and Conor punet against his former Squad so we could see that that could we could be previewing uh what that first round matchup could look like
