He’s fallen off the rails so hard that even the dude who was running that 34 to 70 website appears to have cancelled it. 3 goals in 11 games yeesh, it’s like he’s playing injured again or something.

He had 2 assists tonight, arguably he made the puck go in the net

  3. I don’t get why he gets the pass that he does, if we’re gonna call him the best player in the league and the greatest goal scorer of all time when he’s on a hot streak then he has to be held to that standard, if his play is like this in a playoffs it’s gonna be a bad look

That pass to Domi on the odd man rush was a bit weird. He had a clear path to the net but he ended up deferring.

If Domi scored then sure, we could’ve called it the right play and it would’ve been a sick goal but bro, you’re Auston Matthews. Take the fucking shot.

This whole team is lost without Marner. All you haters, pay attention!

Yeah, I like it too when he…stuffs my net

  7. same.

he’s only allowed to stop scoring goals after he brings us a Cup.

    1. He needs Mitch.

    2. I don’t think he’ll get to 70 now. I think he’ll top out at 65.

  9. Yeah, but if Zack Hyman ended the season with more goals, there would be a palpable bitter-sweetness

  10. Are you people serious here?

He registered one of the best goal scoring stretches in league history for fifty games this year. A few goals below goal per game in this era is at least 50 in 50 in other eras naturally given league scoring. Still leading the league in goals by 7 and his 2.4 goals/60 is the highest rate I have ever seen.

Coupled with his elite +21 xG differential he could literally sit down on the ice during his shifts the rest year and still deserve his 11M cap hit.

Like how McDavid could’ve done that last season for the last 10 games and still win both the Richard and art ross.

It’s not like he has been not scoring at all either recently, 3 points last 5. Two goals too. Seasons fluctuate full stop ✔

  11. I love Matthew’s but he tends to turn into a ghost close to and heading into the playoffs, which is not the best sign for an “elite” player. I would much rather him see him take this opportunity and drive the team over the top. It is either that consistent trend or Mitch is a big reason why he’s so great.

He’s trying his best to cover for Mitchy’s absence. He will score again, we just need to be patient.

Idk, I feel like he’s capable if he just shoots more, that first Philly game you could tell he was hungry for the hatrick, same with the Calgary game, he went out and made it happen after he got the first goal. Like that Philly game he made it happen in 1 damn period.

ok now 1 of 2 things will happen either he hits 60 – 65 which is still very respectable and definitely what we expect of a superstar or he explodes possibly going past 70 through a few hat trick games/Torrid goal scoring pace because he heard us talking shit…again

  15. jpod_david

His lack of scoring really highlights how much Marner sets him up

  16. daxtaslapp

Im scared to say anything he might get triple hat trick back to back

  17. *oilers fans in 1985* man Gretzky only has 6 points in his last 5 games what the fuck is his problem??

  18. billcosbyinnocence

He had two assists and played well, generating offence and playing solid defence. I know we’re spoiled because he was on pace for 70, but cmon.
Don’t be greedy. He can’t score every game. He’s the greatest goal scorer the Leafs ever had and one of the best of all time. We need to learn to relax and not blame him because he goes on a little dry streak. Didn’t you learn anything from the early season? He went 9 games with 1 goal, and you all lost your mind and said he was washed, and then scored like 40 goals in 39 games or some goofy shit. Relax. He, lolr every other superstar, will have off games. Off stretches, even.

Edit: doesn’t help mitch is injured, and Keefe, for some reason, refuses to play Matthews with Nylander.

Honestly I don’t really care if Matthews hit 70. What I want is silver and in Toronto 9 out of 12 months of the year.
