Makes you realize how much of a beast Martin Brodeur was. The guy would play 70+ regular season games every year and still be able to win 16 playoff games for the Cup, while today if a goalie is on pace to play more than 60 regular season games, the fans freak out that they're going to shatter like glass come the playoffs. The best goalies are the ones you have to physically drag out of the net to rest them. It's such a mental position and you never want to lose that sharpness with a long layoff of any kind even if you have to push your body to do it.
Bruce is a good guy, but the way he's talking is a losing mentality. Yes, the Canucks are in 1st place but there are still a ton a weaknesses they need to improve on and if they relax now like Bruce says, they will never improve those weaknesses. They need to play their best every game and only when they are absolutely tired they will realize their potential. Resting now is loser talk Bruce.
Man I hope they sign Bruce as backup goalie
