Josh Norris Injured | Coming in Hot LIVE – February 28

The Senators lose in Nashville but the loss of Josh Norris is the bigger story. Norris left the game with what appears to be a left shoulder injury. The same shoulder he’s had surgery on twice and now there is plenty of concern for the 24 year old forward.

  1. I agree with the broken collar bone diagnosis. Didn't look like an impact that would have hurt his shoulder. My first thought was broken arm but collar bone is much more likely. I also agree with analysis of how he went off the ice, in the past when he knew it was his shoulder it was a much bigger reaction. Praying that it is his collar bone (if its a long term injury).

  2. I'd be considering a couple buyouts, or trades along with a lower pick. Ex. Macewen and Hamonic. Send em to Arizona, or Anaheim, a place trying to fill roster spots.

  3. you retain all salaries on these players not returning next year to maximize round picks in return. I think the big trade will come in the summer time. Right now he has to clear the roster of players not returning next year to make room for draft picks ice time and ufa's in july

  4. Staios and company are looking at a capped out team with massive holes in the lineup and virtually no prospects in the system.
They have no reliable goal tending and no goalies in the system that will be ready to play anytime soon and Dorion chained them to Korpisalo for 4 more years. No easy solution there that I can see.
They have no RD other than Zub and JBD and no one in the system. On the left side they will be fine with Chabot, Sanderson and Kleven once Brannstrom is gone but no opposing forwards will ever have to worry about getting hit by on that D other than maybe the rookie, Kleven, if he even proves good enough to make the team.
Their forward group has skill but is also very soft and seemingly very fragile, also with no prospects to speak of in the system. A capable GM with a competent scouting staff should be able to beef up the bottom 6 but there will be some wizardry required to fill out the top 6 when both Tarasenko and Giroux are gone, especially if they've seen the last of Norris or he proves tro be injury prone. Some players are just like that.
So Staios and company don't have a magic wand they can wave to fix the mess that Pierre "Proudest Day" Dorion left behind and that's frustrating to Sens fans but we better get used to it because it's not going away anytime soon. Look how long it has taken Martin to just get these guys to play responsible hockey 101 and they still screw it up from time to time.
I'm going to watch with great interest to see what decisions they do make at the deadline and in the off season and just keep my fingers crossed that they can perform some kind of exorcism to remove the curse of Melnyk, Dorion and Smith that has haunted this franchise for so long; but I do understand the concept of reality and that sometimes it's better to take a little extra time in order to ensure that you're making the right moves.

  5. A true #1 goalie is what they need. I don’t know who or how they do it but just do it. New management team are super smart hockey minds with plenty of connections. Maybe a right hand d as well. Is Kleven a right hand d? Put a package together and get the best goalie out there and bring Kleven up
