Ryan Graves just puzzles me. I really liked the signing when it happened. This guy played in the top four with both Colorado and New Jersey and played really well. I am just hoping its a bad season, but we will see.
The Penguins are going to just have to hope he finds his game because you're not going to be able to trade him.
Regarding finishing issues: the book has been out on the older guys for years and since the team is so slow, goalies and the opposing D can anticipate where the puck is going. Makes crappy goalies look like Patrick Roy.

We should have been focusing on clean passing and preemptive defensive positioning as a team. We should have known that we can’t out skate a young team like that. So make sure you’re making clean passes to your teammates to prevent sudden rushes and be in the position you need to be in to defend if they happen. I feel like the majority of the turn overs and rushes last night came from sloppy and no look passes that get picked off and then noones in position to defend because they think they can just catch up to them. Also STOP making unnecessary passes in our own zone. We can’t clear a puck to save our lives because we’re trying to pass to someone else in our zone that is being actively covered. 🤦🏻♂️

This team is obviously one of the worst constructed teams in nhl history… which is not the players faults. So as a passionate fan, I can sit there night after night and watch a bad team try and fail and lose games. Thats one thing.. but what I’ve been witnessing from this team for the last month is atrocious. It honestly looks like they just quit. That third period last night was a disgrace. They gave up that 3rd goal and just collapsed.
This entire season is the train wreck that we all can’t stop watching. Placing blame on one party or another is disingenuous in the grand scheme of the season. No one, at any level in the organization, has performed the way they need to succeed. Calling out individuals might make for great podcast topics to talk about, but it’s essentially urinating in the ocean at this point.
The overall flatness this season is the most discouraging thing.
The reason why I can't just blame everything on coaching is that there are just too many bad players on this team … and many of the worst players take up significant cap space. Graves is a disaster. Rakell is a disaster. Smith is a disaster. Karlsson is a disaster in his own end … the guy simply can't play defense. Malkin has clearly lost several steps. Carter obviously. All teams have weaker players on their roster due to the cap, but for the contending teams they are the bottom guys making the league minimum either on the bottom pair or 4th line. But the contending teams don't have these $5-10M players dragging them down like the Penguins do. Some of this is obviously still on Hextall, but a lot of this is also now on Dubas. And with Carter finally leaving this summer, this now falls on Dubas to clean up mostly his own mess. Hopefully he hires a GM so they don't have another disastrous offseason like last summer.
This is the earliest I've ever 'packed up' my penguins swag for the season. Am I spoiled as a fan.. 100% yes, still sucks to switch to baseball swag this early 🙁
Blood was is NHLPA ‘93, I believe. Happened when a player got injured. May have prompted a major penalty as well? ……this is now where my mind has drifted.
The worst contract on the team is Sullivans.
Sullivan inherited a talented team and won instantly. He hasn't done anything since with lesser talent. Idk why Dubas wants to keep him around bc his stubbornness to change his scheme to adapt to what he has NOW (and the last couple years) has derailed this team. DK, Penguins should've been playing a slower, more defensive style. Not a high risk system where Ruhwedel was pinching on plays and the team gives up the most odd man rushes
We tried to tell you man. I respect the effort to stay positive, but it HAS BEEN over for quite a while.
Do the Pens have a shot at 2 first round picks this offseason? And I completely disagree with the analysis that Sid got robbed by Allen. It was yet another example of this team not finishing. He shot that puck back into Allen. Obviously not the norm for Sid and he’s completely off the hook for a seasons worth of most of the rest of em not finishing.
That was a really good NHL 94 impression.
How can Dubas not think any of this is coaching??
Graves shouldn't ever see top 4 minutes Ludvig is capable of playing with EK65.
Genos Penalty was Stupid in the 2nd period when we had all the momentum. Hes been in this league for years. he should know better.
With the Coaching If they aren't going to fire Sully, bring in new voices to help him. And maybe tell him this isn't the 2016-2017 Penguins we cant win playing the same as faster teams.

It's past the point now where we can make excuses and still have hope for our team. The Devils dont have a great record and great goalie and 2 of their best D men were out..but..the pens offensive juggernaut was only able to manage 2..The Devils could have had 10.they rang 5 off the post. So now this team has no offense and havent had a defense in a long time..This performance was not anomalous. I see retirements and lots of trades coming unfortunately.

Dubas needs to meet with Omar Khan ASAP.
