Hockey is a dirty sport. Bedard played junior in the WHL which is the tougher of the junior leagues in Canada. Bedard is going to have to be a Brad Marchand, Theo Fleury , Ken Linesman even Pat Verbeek. It wouldn’t hurt if Bedard slashed or speared or butt ended a pest every once in a while. Otherwise , even though he’s the future of the league, he’ll be attacked every once in a while like this. Connor, one day your team will make the playoffs. That’s the real season.

Bedard is the future face of the NHL, much like Ovechkin, Crosby, Lemieux, Gretzky, Matthews once were ( are ). You protect an asset like that no matter what. It’s telling that Bedard missed a month of the regular season, and yet is still the leader in goals and points for rookies ! Like it or not, that is the fact of life in any sports league nowadays.
