This is so blown out of proportion. Dubinsky is a known Torts hater. Coots hasn’t played well and it we won. If he’s truly the captain is flyers fans need he’ll be a better player afterwards.
Seems like Torts is great at taking an underachieving team and turning them around. Possibly the best ever at doing that. But he seems to also have a hard time keeping the locker room behind him, long term. It also seems some players just can't deal with his style. Obviously a player that just doesn't put in the work doesn't deserve the ice time, but a great coach can motivate more players than Torts seems to be able to, or want to. IMO, a GREAT coach can work with different personalities differently. That being said, I don't follow the Flyers, so I'm not at all familiar with Couturier's recent play. It's entirely possible he deserved to sit to get the message.
He played like trash for awhile so he got benched just like what would've happened to literally anyone else lol. Although, Torts not reaching out to him afterward is definitely concerning

These players make millions of dollars playing a game. If they can’t give 110% by themselves, they need a coach that can get it out of them. Devils need a coach like Torts because they are all pussies. They complain about playing back to back games when at most they play 20 minutes a game as a forward.
Called out only because athletes are soft today. Everyone needs to be held accountable. Doesn't matter if they're a rookie, veteran player, captain, or assistant captain. He doesn't have to be questioned either.
these people calling him out hated him beforehand so of course they're going to find a way to hate on him. don't listen to it, it's just former players who couldn't handle playing for torts.
Tortorella is the coach. He's only doing what is best for the team. Sean Couturier is sour grapes. If Couturier was playing well, do you think Torts would scratch him? If anything, Torts has been consistent throughout his career. Why are we taking Couturier's agents word over Torts? Look at the NYR, it took an injury for Trouba to get scratched to prove what everyone has known all along, Trouba is more of a liability than an asset.
No matter where Tort's goes, he always must have a whipping boy to make an example out of. If someone is not in his doghouse, he can't sleep at night.

Torts always has to be the center of attention, why any team would hire him again is beyond belief, the Flyers r mess they it with that hire.
Torturella is the absolute worst coach in the NHL, it's amazing he keeps finding fresh GM's to give him 3rd and 4th opportunities to be a head coach after getting sacked each time. And as we've seen, he has zero integrity, instead of telling us why Gauthier rejected the team, in his press conference he tried to deflect all blame to a reporter. That should tell you everything about what kind of slimeball he is with people.
This if the fault of Flyers management. Torts is a scumbag. Hope the Flyers want a repeat of all teams Torts has coached- all stars leaving the first chance they can, stars demanding to be traded, starts underperforming, FA’s not willing to sign with you etc.
