BETTMAN ASKED ABOUT CHRIS SIMON, PLAYER SAFETY AND MORE AT NHL GM MEETINGS
NHL commissioner Gary Bettman didn’t have an update on the Arizona Coyotes but did reiterate Arizona is a good NHL market and it’s a place they want to be.

There are things I can respect about Gary, and the way he does his job. The one thing that falls short all these years is his failure to acknowledge the fans as a critical partner in the business. When he acknowledges fan consensus (through the media, which he forgets is the voice of the fans), it's a nod and a wink and, "ok, kids. I'll humor you for 10 minutes, but you're not real." He continues to say things like, "Everyone is satisfied" and "Our feedback has been overwhelmingly positive," ignoring the fact that the questions are being asked BECAUSE no one who doesn't have a vested interest is satisfied at all, and your feedback is fictional. When you gloss over something like LTIR, and poo poo it, you look like a charlatan. You look like you have something to hide. He could go into some detail about the vetting of medical procedures, and not be a lazy rat. He could talk about Chris Simon like he understands that people actually do care. We all know he can't say certain things, but he could say a lot more than he does. He won't because he has no respect.
So unfortunate regarding Chris Simon. I LOVED watching those guys. I am VERY glad that there is still fighting in hockey, but there was apparently too much of it for the prolonged health and well being of the participants, as we have learned. There are no longer players who's main purpose is to chuck 'em. RIP ice warrior.
