its not really about the hand pass, its about the fact that he covered his hand over the puck for as long as he did, that is a penalty. i'm a rangers fan but i was watching that saying ohhhh he got away with that one there.
That's literally the only thing Alzner did during that series. It was his special move and he spammed it like Ryu throwing fireballs in Street Fighter.

Don't undersell the Devils, there is a reason why we split the season series and the Devils outplayed the Rangers in the first 2 periods of Game 1.
This series is still a 6 or 7 game series, all the Rangers did was win on home ice which is what they are supposed to do.
