The Islanders have been outscored 39-18 in the third period and overtime, Gil how long before someone says hay I think we should address this situation, this has gotten way out of hand

If Islanders Had Money Goalie they would not be collapsing in Third Period. Sharks know they can get to Sorokin even down 4 to 1 for a reason. They had a game with Carolina where they gave up a goal with a second left if I recall recently that won in OT. Sorokin along with Varly are never going to win a Cup so them being on roster this will continue. Second is Special Teams. PP it seems to me when casual observing that Barzal takes a penalty. PK is like last in the league so giving up a lot of PPGs even if Holmstrom has 3 SHGs currently. Third would be Dobson having to play with scrubs or out of position. Romanov could not keep it in the zone at the point. That usually is Pelech losing it. Then they had him at LD with Mayfield which was disaster. Pulock did that reckless play that led to Sharks goal. Bad Decision Making overall or Chemistry.
-Sit/demote these lazy vets. Oops vets with iron clad long term contracts louzer has married himself to isles can't do that.
-Call up some hungry ahl'ers with sub par stats. Give them a chance. Not happening. See: above.
-Just FIRE lame-0. Bring in some vet coach like a tippet and hope that gives this old roster the kick in the ass it needs. Vets that should not be making sloppy mistakes like failing to clear puck out-shit that rookies do.
-Maybe isles superman goalie isn't superman who wilts late in games when teams put on the pressure down two goals.
-Use the pelech being out excuse for melt downs even tho this happened a half dozen times like the wing collapse with 3 in line-up.
No matter what louzer's stubborness to keep this old stale roster like a rick astley song 'together forever' he has created yet another unsolvable problem. Best solution would be a roster shake-up and move some of these lazy vets out. Bring in some new younger hungry blood not on 100 year contracts. Reminder-isles have an nhl high 8 players on long term 7-8 year deals all signed by louzer. A victim of his own cap negligence stupidity
Good podcast as usual. I know it’s in Sorokin’s head, it has to be. The best play I saw in that game was Dobson rushing back and covering the guy without the puck for a change, and that let Sorokin to come way out of his crease and & just worry about the puck carrier & the puck carrier, didn’t stand a chance.

Good morning team. Gil, thank you for the informative episode. You always explain things so well. This game wouldn't have hurt so much if the Sharks, didn't score those 2 goals with the goalie sitting on the bench. I remember thinking, we'll get the puck and seal the win with an empty netter. But that didn't happen. The result was, well we all know what it was. I may have to take a break from watching the Islander games for a while. Who am I kidding? Of course I'm going to watch my Islanders, when I can. Columbus is a team with their own issues as well. Maybe we can get 2 points here. Let's stay positive and maybe we can manifest a win tonight. What a disaster. As I was watching I kept telling myself 'No way. No way they blow this one'. Lane seemed bewildered in his post game interview. He was asked if the failure was due to players trying to do too much (which it clearly was) and his first response was no. As he kept talking, he figured it out.
Mayfield needs to be benched. He was key to the 2 goals that tied it. On one he leaves net front to throw a useless check and falls down as they score. On the other he leaves Hertl alone net front, skates toward the point and opens the passing lane to Hertl. Under no circumstances should he ever leave the hot hand alone in that prime scoring position, but Scott wanted to be a superhero and cover the whole zone himself.
What they can do is fire lambert but I think Lou is too old and taking too many naps and trips to the bathroom to do so. I mean he fired ftorek going into the playoffs for gods sake. I mean listen to lamberts post game interviews he doesn’t have answers
I think Romanov is overrated. People talk about Mayfield. Romanov was traded for a first rd pick and plays like a bottom 6 defenseman. Maybe I’m over reacting with him but this guy was supposed to be a lot better than what he is showing
Feel like we’re back to when Wang owned the team. An owner who doesn’t care about the team just maybe did it for the money, an absent GM and a terrible coach and nobody does anything. As long as the owners invested in a nice piece of land, and fans keep pumping money into the team, which we shouldn’t! Also the core of this team has been together for over 5 or more yrs no other team in the NHL would tolerate this mediocre play night in and night out season after season. I will not pay a dime for any merch or game! You want me to invest money then show me as a damn owner/s you’re going to invest other than giving the thumbs up to Lou and Trotz and that was supposed to shut fans up that have been dealing with crap since 1985- Spano, Milbury, Wang, Muller, Capuano, etc. give us a break!
