The New York Islanders suffered far too many defensive breakdowns and lost to the Detroit Red Wings 6-3. This was a team failure as the defensemen and forwards were often out of position and the smart play that used to characterize this team was lacking. The only thing even keeping the Islanders somewhat in it at this point is the inconsistent play of all the other teams fighting for the last wild card spot.

Man i am sorry but what can isles do at this point to change things up? The coaching change was it. Louzer's hail mary. Pathetic. 0-5-1 last 6. Now 5 pts behind wings. On another note does anyone notice the quietly good job trotz is doing as preds gm? He cut the fat last off season (learning from louzer bad overpay term deals are bad) and has preds on cusp of playoffs. Preds shut out cats tonite. Looks like isle owners let the wrong guy go. Should have been louzer shown the door. You reap what you sow property bros. Oh well only bright side is isles are bettering their draft status with every loss. And flyers picked up a pt. as nj won too. Isles now -26 gf ga on season. Next up-central leading jets who lost at nj tonite. You can see this team getting worse as the season goes on. Old, tired, slow-no will anymore. No coaching change can change that. And things will only get worse. Thanks louzer.

Hey Gil – I will be the first to admit this but I thought Roy was going to be a good fit for this team based off how passionate he was in his first coaching job and how he was as a player however I think my excitement was because they removed Lambert and I wasn't thinking clearly. That being said the ONLY way Patrick Roy works as a coach is if one you get rid of Lou for a modern style GM who is able to think outside the box and two if you get rid of the rest of the Lambert/Lou coaching staff and start fresh next season. The last thing will come as no surprise but you Must take away the C from Lee and the A's from Clutter, Nelson because I'm not sure what Roy was looking at but these clowns don't Lead by example unless it's what not to do on a hockey rink. RIP 2023-24 Season

Roy is delusional if he thinks the Isles played a good game. They were hot garbage for the first 2 periods, and a tiny spark of life in the 3rd when the game is all but done.

The team sucks, Lou sucks and Roy is most certainly NOT the fiery Pateick Roy I was expecting. Well, at least we now know for sure there will be changes this summer, or at least there should be.
Guys this is who they are… I understand some of the offensive players are not having a good year… all that being said, the most frustrating thing for me is Pelech and Pulock look terrible this year… those guys are supposedly the back bone on defense… if those 2 are not at their best, we have no chance…
This is an emotionally weak team. They give up a goal and they implode.

Let me declare there is a good amount of talent on Isles roster. However, a good amount of that talent rarely plays to the levels they are capable of. You will never convince me this team cares or Lou is capable of understanding this team and running this organization well. Roybis the right coach but ownership must insert a new management team and many of the inconsistent guys who will never care must go!
