Special teams are gonna be the death of this team come postseason
Both teams got goalied, I guess one had to win.
Positives:
– Woll looked really good
– non-Shutout streak is alive
Negatives:
– powerplay has been really bad. but I believe it will get better when Marner returns
That was a weird game.
They played last night so whatever. Woll was great though
If they just could have got more pucks to the net, I think they could have won that game. Freddy looked a little shakey.
There was a very real chance coming into this week with 2 back to backs that they were going 2-2.
That’s exactly what happened.
Obviously there are things to work on over the next few weeks but 2-2 on 2 back to backs with travel seems about right
Credit Woll. Dude was solid.
Sometimes, you just have to accept the circumstances.
Leafs had an incredibly emotional game less than 24 hours ago. Had to travel. Canes were rested and also got blown out previous game. It is what it is!
Not losing sleep over a close loss to a good team on the second half of a back to back.
Crazy interesting tactic to have no SOGs on a full 2 minute powerplay
Great effort on a B2B near the end of a long grinding season. They picked up their effort throughout the game and fought hard. Woll was unbelievable.
Not as crisp as you’d want; not as dialled in as you’d like to see.

I feel some takes on this game are too hot. One critical take I will say I agree with is our powerplay is looking even worse without Marner.

Understandably not as much energy on the second half of a back to back, and a great effort by Woll. However, the PP still needs serious work, I don’t know what Guy Boucher is teaching the top unit but they keep looking slow and lost all the time, especially on zone entries
Woll was amazing and literally nothing has changed for me. He’s my playoff starter and i’m running him into the ground every game.
They need to accept Brodie’s done and a reserve for injuries
Don’t win puck battles on the powerplay and make bad passes. That’s it.

Is it just me or do they play more sloppy with Woll in net lately? Like he gets hung out to dry and has to bail them out so much

Remember at the beginning of the season when our 6 on 5 was like a 85% chance we go to OT

That powerplay cost us the game
6-on-4 and couldn’t get any kind of sustained o-zone time and cycle going. Not having Marner in there (not to mention special teams in general) makes a huge difference .
We win that with Marner
Our special teams are an embarrassing shit show.
Our PK is just us standing around letting them move the puck and get the perfect opportunity, we don’t attack the puck or pressure them at all.
Our PP is just non-existent. It’s the same entry every single time that doesn’t work unless matthews or Nylander manage to wiggle through 4 defenders. JT on the PP is a cancer. Don’t even think we got a shot off on that 6 on 4…
Woll was the only saving grace tonight. Insane performance.

Great game by Woll, one of his best on a red hot Canes team. Today he started creating a case for himself again.
We also got goalied by Freddie, hard. He had Matthews number tonight, 34 was trying hard.
