That is a horribly unflattering picture lol
not murray.
Was down at the game on Saturday, Samsonov made some great saves but was starting to fall into old habits. When he struggles he overplays his movements and gets out of position, saw that a couple of times on Saturday. He also stops pucks that are four feet wide, you dont need to make a toe save on a puck that is four feet wide.
On what planet does anything Matt Murray has done on the ice in recent years unseat Martin Jones as the 3rd string goalie? Murray is the 4th stringer at best until his contract expires and we never see him wearing blue and white again. Injuries could change that but it would take two of the three goalies ahead of him to be unavailable.
I pray that never happens.
No way Murray gets the backup job. The starter is 100% Samsonov, Woll for now is the clear choice for rhe backup, but if either Falters or gets injured, Jones is the easy choice to throw in goal. Plus Hildeby has torn it up on the Marlies as a 22 year old, if he keeps up the pace, he might be considered beforw Murray
Makes no difference who Leafs start in goal in the playoffs if the D allows ,40 shots a game. Like against Carolina. If not for Woll Canes would have netted 7 or 8. Two on ones, breakways, trouble clearing own end.
Cowan is too small to start with the leafs next year. Look what happened to Robertson, with injuries.
But when he comes to the leafs , keefe will screw him up.
There is next to 0% chance Murray gets back into the lineup, at this point he would be the 5th string goalie behind the beast, it would take a lot of goalie injuries to see this happen.
I think give mat Murray a chance to prove himself
Sammy deserves the start unless the wheels come off again, but he's earned it!
If Murray does come back, you'd be a complete imbecile not to give him a shot so you know exactly what you have for either a lengthy, deep playoff run or trade value.
So, I'm going for Sammy & Woll. If you don't reward your players for individual effort above and beyond expectations, you're just begging for locker room revolt.
