Sugar Ray Leonard – Often regarded as one of the greatest boxers of all time, Leonard competed professionally between 1977 and 1997, winning world titles in five weight classes; the lineal championship in three weight classes. The fight in which this video is showcasing is the highly controversial “No Mas” fight in New Orleans. In the closing seconds of the eighth round, Durán turned his back to Leonard and quit, saying to referee Octavio Meyran, “No Más” (English: “No more”). Leonard was the winner by a technical knockout at 2:44 of round eight, regaining the WBC Welterweight Championship.

  1. Sugar Ray Leonard at his absolute best! This is one of his greatest performances as he learned from his mistakes in the Brawl in Montreal and used his superior speed / movement to outbox and befuddle Duran. 2 of the greatest of all time but on this night Leonard was tactically perfect and completely dominated a P4P legend. https://www.patreon.com/haNZAgod

  2. It's very important to note that Duran kicked Leonard's ass in the first fight and the second fight was a complete fix!!

  3. not many people can have the courtesy to tell someone they taunted Duran to his face and still won the fight after

  4. Duran's quit tactic seemed nothing more than exhaustion mixed with pure frustration. SRL was in excellent form and even with his antics and flashy moves wowing the crowd, he outclassed Duran in that fight. Duran was effectively being mocked by SRL's showy trickery which riled him up beyond his fitness level.

  5. Master class was the one that Duran gave him in the first fight, for that fight he had gone in very bad conditions, if he had trained it would have been different, Leonard was younger, he was at his natural weight and had more reach and size than Duran and Even so, this one beat him.

  6. This era was not only one of the greatest in boxing, but it was one of the greatest in a lot of areas…

  7. Sugar Ray always ran from fighters he knew couldn't beat. Marvin Hagler says Sugar Ray was the only fighter who ran from him. He was running and clowning in this rematch, I don't blame Duran. Stop running and fight!

  8. I love it when SRL gives him that “look”, like he’s saying “That all you got, sucka?” And then spins his right arm around while his left goes BAM!

I always hated Duran so to see him get demolished like this was great

  9. Leonard looks far bigger and stronger in the upper body for this fight than he did the first one. This increased strength was key, as Duran wasn't able to wrestle him into the ropes as before and control Leonard's positioning. When he tried, Leonard controlled Duran, spun off of the ropes, and nailed him. This was a major source of Duran's frustration, who was at a loss for how to win and gave up rather than suffer the long night and an inevitable beating.

  10. I never understood why Leonard being such a nice boxer had to behave like a clown some times…not necessary.. he had the punch, speed and technique for giving a great show without buffooneries!

  11. After Duran's antics and insults leading up to the first fight, Duran deserved to be embarrassed like this.

  12. O Duran ja estava consagrado. 72 lutas apenas uma derrota e o calçao preto fugindo o tempo inteiro. So o Bolt pra pegar o outro cara. – Ah. Tenho mais o que fazer ! e foi curtir ferias.

  13. This was the rematch after Roberto Duran beat sugar ray. It came out later that Roberto hurt his hand and was partying and came into the fight overweight. So i wouldnt exactly call it a master class. But the late 70s and into the eighties was definitely a golden era in boxing.

  14. I was a sophomore in high school at the time of this fight, yet my memory of this fight wasn't so distant in the past. Feeling a bit nostalgic, America was a much better place in the 80s…..

  15. Leonard also did the same stuff in their third fight, trying to get Duran to quit again, he didn't but he looked tense, often not punching back at Leonard, cut Leonard badly though, but still lost nearly all rounds
