THE WORST MAPLE LEAFS MISTAKE IN YEARS… (Edmonton Oilers News, Zach Hyman)

THE WORST MAPLE LEAFS MISTAKE IN YEARS… (Edmonton Oilers News, Zach Hyman)

In honor of the Toronto map beliefs and the Edmonton Oilers facing off against each other later tonight I wanted to give a preview not necessarily a sneak peek to the game breaking down the strategies breaking down the standings and the implications and the points race and the playoffs and you know all that

Stuff I want to say yeah the preview is we’re probably going to see ourselves two goals scored by one Edmonton Oilers forward in Zach Hyman and yeah it’s pretty obvious to see why the narratives they write themselves everybody was expecting this because right now as I’m talking into

This microphone before the Leafs and the Oilers game has begun Zack Heyman has 48 goals on the season in 66 games played my goodness this guy is on Pace for 59 total goals on the year and you got to know this is happening you got to know it it’s in Toronto

They’re playing off there Hometown return it’s been a few years Hyman is going to be amped up he’s been scoring goals like crazy and Conor McDavid is feeding him like crazy it’s working Hyman already has broken his career high in goals that in which he set last year

With 36 goals in 79 games played and 83 points mind you this season the guy has so fewer assists but it doesn’t matter when you’re putting the puck in the back of the net like he is Zack Heyman if you take a look at the NHL standings at the

Time of recording this audio he is third in the NHL in goals only behind Reinhardt and Matthews he has more goals than Pasto McKinnon COV panan everybody else in the NHL and that includes William neander so what happened here and how exactly did we get to this point where

Zack Heyman is scoring nearly 50 goals a year well let’s go out there and read a few articles and talk about the entire connection because I think at this point we are starting to understand just how big of a mistake it was for the Toronto

Beliefs to let go of Zack Heyman we had some articles on the athletic we had another article published on oilersnation doccom I think the athletic piece talked about how Zack Heyman could be the best free agent signing in decades and you know what that’s actually not that bad because when you

Think about it I mean the guy’s gonna give the Oilers 50 goals this year I mean what there are 15 games left in the NHL regular season and he’s got 48 goals right now you think he’s not going to hit 50 he’s going to hit 50 maybe even

Later tonight against the Maple Leafs and his contract I mean it goes on till 2027 2028 at $5.5 million a year I don’t care if Zack Heyman is 31 years old I don’t care if this contract will take him till he’s 35 at $5.5 million a year getting anything

Near the realm of 50 goals is an absolute bargain Not only was this a free agent signing a few years ago for the ages but the dollar amount happens to be cheap that’s crazy and in fact when you think about how the Toronto beliefs let this guy go away

What was Zack Hyman on the Toronto Maple least well he had 33 points in 43 games played in his last season with Toronto that’s roughly a 61 point paac is if my mental math serves me well that’s not bad honestly and realistically a 60o player getting

$5.5 million a year on the open market for what was a what is that 7-year deal hey that’s not that bad honestly it’s just you whether or not that would age well whether or not the contract would look good by the time he’s 31 32 33

Guess what he’s 31 now and he just put up a 48g goal season in 66 games played with 15 games to go Zack Heyman has been so good and when it comes to this article in oilersnation docomond continues to prove he is worth every penny of his contract there are a

Few points here that I wanted to talk about in regards to what was essentially the biggest Maple Leafs mistake in years how they let go of this guy without really getting anything in return this article opens up by talking about how things have gone well for Hyman and this

Has especially been the case in year three of his contract as he’s not only closing in in the 50 goal Plateau for the first time in his career but he’s also on Pace to hit the 80 point mark for a second consecutive year his 67 points have him tied for third on the

Oilers in scoring alongside Evan buard and he is on the second best point per game Mark in his career few could have envisioned these things when he signed with the Oilers 3 years ago but the fact that he’s doing this while serving the fifth highest capit on the team is

Incredible value there’s a quote from Steven Ellis from daily Faceoff Zack Heyman has always been capable of putting Pucks in the net but with his salary and his career performance to date scoring 50 seemed like an incredible stretch when he first moved to Alberta Hyman joined the team at a

Time where finding secondary scoring was difficult and with Heyman priced out of a new deal with Toronto having a chance to play alongside of Conor McDavid was a perfect fit and the article that then says Heyman didn’t get any of his points purely by accident he’s proven to play a

Vital role with McDavid this season assisting on 27 of Hyman’s goals heading into tomorrow’s game against the Leafs McDavid has a chance to have the 14th 100 assist season in NHL history and the first to do so since one guy named Marine Gretzky did it back in 1990

1991 now if you scroll down to the article I wanted to go over this point right here some may wonder why Hyman was never able to reach these lofty Heights with the Maple Leafs after after all he spent a lot of his time sharing a line with Matthews and Mitch Marner who are

Among the top players in the league but as Steven Alice points out Matthews is the sniper so Hyman had to get him the puck while McDavid is the playmaker so Hyman will receive the pass it’s a distinction in play style which has resulted in Hyman reaching far greater

Heights individually in Edmonton than he ever did in Toronto heyman’s been fortunate to play with two of the NHL’s top Superstars throughout his career and people will discredit him for that similar to four time stand leup Champion Chris kunet from his days with the Pittsburgh Penguins but no Winger has

Found the level of success with McDavid than Heyman has you don’t fall into opportunities like that by accident there’s no shortage of players dying for a chance to play with the future Hall of Famer but Hyman’s ability to keep up with the pace and finish at a high rate

Makes him so valuable and that is a really big idea because when it comes to Hyman’s role in Toronto yeah he was the garbage guy he was the puck digging board battling get the puck over to Matthews and get as many assists as you can guys because your role is to support

Austin kind of player but in Edmonton it’s like yeah your role is to support Conor McDavid by planting yourself on the side and letting McDavid find you and you put the puck in the back of the deet Conor McDavid scored 60 goals last year yes but he kind of wants to get

More assists this year so that’s your role Zach Heyman this time around at least of course zackman is the same player but he’s utilizing different skills of his toolbox differently with the Oilers than he was with the Toronto Maple Leafs and as a result you have yourselves what is now a potential 50g

Goal season that will happen in Toronto he’ll score 50 goals in front of his old Hometown Maple Leafs team and what we’re going to see hats raining down like it’s going to be crazy dude everybody’s going to be cheering for this you know Maple Leafs fans just want to see it happen

They know they’re going to see it happen and I don’t know the narratives right themselves if Zack Hyman goes out there and let’s just say jokingly I’m not going to be serious about this let’s say that Zack Heyman catches up to Austin Matthews in some respect is it possible

I’d say it is but maybe not too likely but hey the fact that we could even talk about this idea is nuts in and of itself because Zach Heyman in his last what is it his last five games he’s got five goals in his last 10 games he’s got

Eight goals he’s got zero assists in that process as well but hey who cares about assist when you’re putting the Pucket the back of the Ned Knight in a night out Zack Hyman has been one of the best free agent signings in the past few years years and it’s one of the biggest

Mistakes that the Toronto map beliefs let a 50g goal player leave their Organization for free so let me know your thoughts in the comment section below about Zack Heyman and his entire career up to this point how he’s been so good in Edmonton with Conor McDavid how

His role has changed and he’s getting all these goals what are your thoughts on his progression heading into the next few games over here the 15 remaining games to end off the season and what are your thoughts on how he’s going to perform against Toronto because you know

He’s going to get 50 goals tonight you just know it let me know your thoughts in the comment section below I hope you enjoyed this v99 and Bye

  1. Hyman is going to be the Oilers best free agent signing ever. Having an 80 pt player and a 48 goal scorer getting paid under 6 million bucks on your team is crazy.

  2. Hindsight is 20/20. No one expected Hyman to pop off like this so I'm not gonna blame the Leafs management on this one.

  3. Can Hyman pull a patty Kane? Head to his old home, and get the W in overtime?

6/5 Oilers O.T. win, Hyman with the gwg

  4. Leafs didn't and couldn't sign him, because of their other contacts. I would of traded Marner and kept him. A hard nose guy , go Zack go. GHG.

  5. Hymans a good player and Im happy for him but he would have never scored 50 goals in Toronto, even playing on the top line. I wish him much more success because hes also a class act off the ice.

  6. Hyman is overrated. He plays with draisaitle and mcdavid. He only gets points because of those 2. He was average at best before coming to Edmonton and would be average again not playing with Edmonton’s superstars.

  7. I would say the worst mistake the Maple Leafs made in years was hiring the untested rookie Kyle Dubas as their General Manager.

LMFAO😂 What an idiot franchise, Kyle Dubas has to be one of the worst GM's I have ever seen in years.
