To date this is the only Flames team to win a championship. This was an impressive team.

Hey
Hello
Not first😭
This was the cup that St. Louis helped give Calgary their winning team.
hakan loob should be in the HOF just for his name
Visiting the flames aside… incoming
That trade happened because some rink rat accused Gilmore of wetting his wick and left her high and dry. Of course she dropped the charges after the trade.
R. I. P. McCrimmon.
This is the kind of series that I hate. Not because of the content, which is awesome, but because I know there is no video coming of my Blues and that is just criminal.
The friend sending the Joel Otto cards is hilarious
I am Flames fan that was born in '89 so getting to hear a Vancouver fans breakdown off the team is awesome.
I am always shocked when I look at the forward core and see just how good it was. I grew up with Gilmour/ Nieuwendyk/ Roberts/ Fluery/ Macinnis all close to the end of their careers. Really hard for me to grasp that they all played on Calgary.
Gross. I like that Al MacInnis however.
I really liked Jim Peplinski on that Calgary team. Bob.
Doug Gilmore… I don't know if you had those commercials out west but in Ontario Doug Gilmore is infamous for wearing cow coloured tights and drinking Milk…. Got Milk… I honestly believe that I have a Doug Gilmore cow tights poster somewhere
I'd have to say Brad McCrimmon and Gary Roberts were also, maybe not HOF, but very, very good players for a long time in the league, as well as the guys you mentioned that were borderline HOF.
Another great video! Is the reason the series begins in '81 is that's when you started watching hockey?
i liked calgary's jerseys back then
They didn't deserve that cup.
Håkan Loob is a Hall of Famer. Not just, THE Hall of Fame. He is in the Swedish Hockey Hall of Fame. I can't believe that he is still the only Swede to score 50 goals in a season
I actually got kinda triggered when you said Joel Otto kicked goal in. Canucks fan since 03 but like seriously ? I'm just learning about this bullshit
Hakan Loob didn't retire, instead he had a very successful career out of the NHL. He played 7 more seasons in the SHL, 2 world cups and 2 olympic games.
He had the most points in the SHL 3 times, also 20 points in 20 games in the WC, and 17 points in 16 games in the OG.
As a Wild fan, the "Gary has a Cup and Ryan doesn't" really stung, but great video! This series is teaching me a lot!
My cousin is Al MacInnis
Love these series, hearing what the teams were like before I started watching hockey, or was even born for that matter, is great
This is my fave series that you do! I love getting a peak at the ones when I was too young to even notice NHL living in Norway.Looking forward to hearing what you think about Ed Belfour when we get there 😉 My fave goalie, to bad he didn't win with the Blackhawks.
I really do enjoy this series. Keep it up. I'm looking forward to the era when I got old enough to enjoy NHL.
Brett Hull played for the Flames?
The Hull trade made sense due to the fact that the flames had very good depth on the wing – Ramage came in and rounded out the the top 4 on defence and made the flames very hard to break down because you had McInnis and Suter and Ramage and Mcrimmon playing about 75% of the game.
Fletcher knew he was giving up a good player and even believed hull was going top be 50 goal scorer down the road, what he didn't know was that he was going to be an 80+ goal scoerer too.
Don't the hockey gods didn't forget otto's goal in game 6 in the 04 Stanley Cup finals
Otto's "goal" still burns.😈😭😈
The only opposing team to win the cup in Montreal.
whatching these videos very happy waiting the Ducks episode im from Finland IF you get it
Our sweater needs a makeover. I miss the old flames sweaters.
Only team to win the cup in the old Montreal forum!
Hakan Loob who is now the Flames European scout
I know you like to talk about rats, and I think you should discuss someone who was an even bigger rat than Kin Linseman: Jim Peplinski. That guy actually cut holes in the fingers of his gloves, so that he could more effectively grab opposing player's jerseys while running offensive interference.
I am trying to recreate this line in nhl 19. Could somebody please break down the 1st,2nd,3rd and 4th lines for me? Can get the roster details but not the line combos.
Trading Mullen was a HUGE mistake. Flames should have had one or 2 more cups between 88-92 but too many core changes and the guys remaining just seemed not want to do the things it took to go deep. They were the best team in the league in that stretch but couldn't summon up what it took except the one year and almost lost to Van in the first round of 89. It's like it took a round to wake them up.
This guy is still salty all these years lol.. yet Calgary is still a Stanley Cup champions.. I could argue Joe Mullen is also a hall of famer but that whole team was stacked with stars
Met AL Macinnis the summer of 2002. His son was playing in the Brick invitational it the ice palace. Nice guy.
I loved this team-Theo Fleury and Al Macinnis my fave players!
I just watched the 89 flames, habs game 6 final for the first time this evening🔥🔥🔥 😊
Just before we lost 6-1 Ottowa tonight……….
Roberts should be in the HOF.
8:56 😂
Mike Vernon is a hall of famer as Theo fleury and even Gary roberts
That was a very good calgary flames team. So many legends of the game. Such a sad thought they didn't win more cups than the one in 1989
