Frank Seravalli on Lindholm’s injury, Canucks re-signing free agents, cost of hockey, Hyman, CTE

Frank Seravalli from @daily_faceoff stops by and talks about Lindholm’s future with the injury and pending free agency. He also covers Filip Hronek’s value as the most important #Canucks free agent; the schedule for the opening night of the Stanley Cup Playoffs, the cost of minor hockey these days and getting a kid to the NHL; plus the NHL’s nonsensical stance on CTE.

  1. The questions I have are, was Lindholm injured before he arrived in Vancouver and if so, did the Canucks know he was hurt (or were they mislead by the Flames, which could be an issue for the league to deal with) when he arrived or did he get hurt after he arrived? If he was hurt in Calgary, leading to his steep decline in production, that could be a serious issue the league would have to look into, because I assume you have to disclose any injury or get a guy checked out by a doctor before you make a trade. Players aren't like beater cars, where it's used or for parts only and you accept the liability if the thing breaks down halfway down the road from where you bought it.

  2. Wow. That's a pretty good way to get players engaged as kids in Philly and in other US cities. It's crazy different in Canada and your parents might start crying if you decide to bankrupt them by becoming a goalie. It would have been nice if Hockey Canada could have used their hush money over the years to actually fund amateur hockey; especially goaltending. There are so few ice surfaces to train on in Vancouver that not even the Canucks don't have their own training facility…

  3. Frank is the most intellectual guest analyst this show has. I take his knowledge and insight over Friedman any day.

    Good show 👊
