Too many excuses. These guys ought to try a career in politics. They sound like politicians. They flat out stink. Once again, they never show up on defense! Defense and puck control win games! This team continues to make the same mistakes, game after game. Lalonde should resign before somebody throws him out of that job. Lalonde is just not ready to be a head coach. He can't handle this team. And those rentals who totally gave up, at least for the last 3 weeks, should be benched and let go ASAP. This is disgusting and appalling to watch. With the exception of Kane, Debrincat, and Raymond (not Larkin since he gets hurt every 6 weeks or so), I'd rather see the Grand Rapids Griffins roster fill in for the Wings the rest of the season. Not even sure if some of these rentals can play at the Midget level. This is pathetic…..
But this is the first time in a LONG time that games in March have mattered.
I don’t understand the loyalty to Petry either but we dealt with 7 years of Blashill and Lalonde has done very well with this team (considering) in two years. He deserves another year.
If Yzerman fires him I’ll trust that but Idk i didn’t expect playoffs this year and I honestly don’t even want it either how soft this team is when they’re on their heels.
PS I’d like to think Lalonde played Petry that much as a punishment but maybe it’s wishful thinking
No passion, no self dignity, no accountability. Just 9 more opportunities to make excuse after excuse. This team doesn’t deserve the playoffs. Boston or Florida would burn through this “team” in 4 straight. Felt better about last years team before the trade deadline massacre. Pathetic end to such a talented group.
Wings have played the best when the D jump into the play with the forwards and one forward covers them doing so. Seider and others are clearly capable of jumping into the offensive zone with the puck. Get back to that please 🙏
Petry not taking the open man when he must clearly know that the guy he’s telling to go take him can’t possibly get there in time and Lalonde backing that up sums it all up
I’m sick of listening to Lalonde talk about the team like they never really had a chance anyway. Like they’re a team playing up in a tournament. This is the big boy leagues! Take your losing mindset and go

i feel like 90% of the people in these comments either a) don't actually watch the games or don't know a thing about hockey or b) are fairweather fans who just are incapable of seeing the big picture. most of y'all need to kick rocks lol
WTF, in the first period, Carolina outplayed you guys 11-1 for shots on the net. You guys are lucky that you guys are still two points behind Washington. You guys need a coach like Derek lalonde
Went to the game tonight and had to leave when it became 4-0. Couldn't watch it anymore. Worst Red Wings game I've ever seen considering the circumstances.
Petry needs to be held accountable. Lalonde don't even put him in the press box. This is embarrassing seeing seider try and say that it's miscommunication and cover for the team. Petry was responsible for 3 goals tonight. He hasn't even been benched!? They benched walman for 1 bad game…and this guy has played bad since we got him!! And he is never held accountable. Why!!!??? What is petry holding over lalonde and or yzerman!??
Likely now to miss the playoffs and not have Kane back. Given the offers he’ll receive, I’d say there is a 2 percent chance he stays. It’s tough to be a wings fan.
